Feature and Share Comments To Build Brand Community

Feature and Share Comments To Build Brand Community | The Content Marketing Hat | Scoop.it
Despite the raging debate on whether to allow comments or not, many of us still do. And for those that do, comments from readers can be used in a couple of ways to build community even further.
Mike Allton's insight:

What To Do With Comments?

If you've been blogging for a while, you've probably started to get some great comments on your posts from your readers. And those comments are fantastic for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is providing a mechanism for you to actually connect with your readers on your blog, and take those relationships further.

But what else can you do with them?

You might not have considered it, but when you have a particularly good comment on one of your blog posts, it can be extremely powerful to feature that comment for other readers, and to even share it to your social channels for your other followers to read and jump in.

Featuring and Sharing comments from your blog and readers is a great way to build community! Learn how in today's post! And if you've been doing this, or have other ideas on how to use comments, throw 'em out here in the comments!

Thanks, and have a great weekend!

Mike Allton's insight:

5 Reasons Canva Will ROCK Your Blog

What do Chuck Norris and +Canva have in common?

Not much, you might say. And you'd be right, if it weren't for this quote:

+Peg Fitzpatrick and +Guy Kawasaki and +martin shervington and +Rebekah Radice and others have been talking a lot about Canva lately. And for good reason. It's an amazing tool, and I'm thrilled to be able to share with you today all the reasons why i'm using it, and how I'm using it, to rock my blog, so that you can too.

Social Media Active Users by Network [INFOGRAPH]

Social Media Active Users by Network [INFOGRAPH] | The Content Marketing Hat | Scoop.it
One of the most common questions from both businesses and social media marketers is "how many?" How many users. How many people. How many opportunities - for each of the social networks. Here are updated Active User Counts.
Mike Allton's insight:

Social Media Active Users by Network

Does Facebook really have over a billion users?
How does Google+ compare?
How big are Pinterest and Instagram, really?
And what does "active user" even mean?

All of these questions, and more, are answered in today's article. I've broken down all of the major social networks by active users and included when the most recent tally was reported, when the network was 'born' - and even distinguished between "active" and "registered" users.

Included are:
 - Facebook
 - YouTube
 - Google+
 - Twitter
 - Instagram
 - LinkedIn
 - Pinterest
 - Vine

And it features a complete infograph that you can pin or embed, and which will be updated immediately any time new numbers are announced.

And while it's fun to see these numbers and rankings, there's a deeper purpose to all of this. Any ideas?

Thanks, and enjoy the graphics!

The 15-Point Guide to Choosing the Right Imagery for your Website Design

The 15-Point Guide to Choosing the Right Imagery for your Website Design | The Content Marketing Hat | Scoop.it
Images have the potential to make or break a site's effectiveness. Let's take a look at how you use images that blend seamlessly with the other design elements of the site and also enhance the website message.
Mike Allton's insight:

How To Choose The Right Imagery

When it comes to your website and your blog, and really every aspect of your marketing, how important are images? Are there images, of one kind or another, in virtually every aspect of your business presence?

That's why I love this post from +Joshua Geary. While his focus is on the use of imagery - the right imagery - in websites, I think many of his examples and points can be applied to blog post images, social media graphics, and so on.

For instance, one of his points is to ensure that any image you choose to incorporate is relevant to your website and your audience, and that's just as true for blog graphics and social media posts.

Check out his 15-Point Guide and see if you can't pick up a few ideas and pointers for your next project.

LinkedIn Launches Cover Photos for Premium Members

LinkedIn Launches Cover Photos for Premium Members | The Content Marketing Hat | Scoop.it
Following in the footsteps of the other major networks, LinkedIn has finally implemented the ubiquitous "cover photo." LinkedIn Premium Members can now upload a 1400 x 425 cover image.
Mike Allton's insight:

LinkedIn Adds Cover Photos FINALLY!

LinkedIn continues to lag behind most of the other social networks in adopting features and functionality that users demand cross-platform. Mentions, for instance, were finally added, but are still extremely limited, and we're still waiting for hashtag support.

But today, LinkedIn Premium members do get to take advantage of a nice improvement to their personal profile: A Cover Photo.

Weighing in at a whopping 1400 x 425, it's very similar in size to Twitter's new cover photos. But there are some complications with placement that will make creating custom cover photos a bit of a challenge, so be sure to read the notes below.

What do you think? Does it irk you that this is for Premium (paid) members only? Or is this a great benefit to membership that'll make you think about upgrading?

Reading The Unofficial Book On HootSuite Is Like Learning To Ride A Bike

Reading The Unofficial Book On HootSuite Is Like Learning To Ride A Bike | The Content Marketing Hat | Scoop.it
I believe that HootSuite has provided a wonderful tool, one that many businesses can benefit from, and it’s my hope that through this book, I can help you do wonderful things with it.
Mike Allton's insight:

Reading "The Unofficial Book On HootSuite" is Like Learning to Ride a Bike

Do you remember when you were young, and you first learned how to ride a bike? You had to figure out pedalling and braking and yeah, that whole balance thing. There were so many skills to master... but what happened once you did? Did you have to think about how to get your feet to pedal in sync, or did you just do it? Did you have to think about keeping your balance? Or did you just fly down the street to your friend's house without a care in the world?

Those were the days, eh?

That's what this book is to me. And I hope it will be for you too.

I'd like to share with you my story of learning how to ride a bike, about how biking became not just  a hobby, but an integral part of my life all the way through High School. And I'll explain the relationship I see between mastering HootSuite and learning to ride a bike.

Will you join me?

Blog post: http://owl.li/xikC3

And if you're interested in picking up a copy of the book for yourself, links to Amazon and Barnes & Noble are there for you.

Thank You!
