How to Track Google+ Post Impressions

How to Track Google+ Post Impressions | The Content Marketing Hat | Scoop.it
While we're still waiting on official Google+ analytics, here's one trick you can use so find out exactly how many people potentially saw your status update.
Mike Allton's insight:

Want to know how many times a Google+ post has been viewed?

As businesses and marketers, there are a lot of metrics that we want to review in order to help us understand how we're doing on social media, and whether our past activity has contributed to growth of the business.

Unfortunately, the metrics we want often just aren't there.

One of the first measurements we want to see is simply how many people potentially saw our post. Call it reach or impressions or views... it's just a number of eyeballs that might have seen our update.

And while we're still waiting on official Google+ Analytics (which they've said is coming), and there are a growing number of third-party tools that are attempting to bridge the gap, there's actually a pretty easy way you can begin to tell how many people are viewing your post.

Learn how: http://owl.li/wuqkQ

So now, in addition to the standard social signals of +1's, Comments and Shares, you can also add in Views to your metrics. When combined with Google Analytics for website traffic and conversion goals, you can really start to see how your Google+ activity is paying off.

But don't forget, as +Stephan Hovnanian has mentioned, not every post has to have the same goals. While driving website traffic may be your most important goal, you can and should create posts that have alternate goals, and Brand Recognition might just be one of them (in which case View count becomes your best metric).

Do you agree?

Hootsuite’s New Share Dialogue Explained

Hootsuite’s New Share Dialogue Explained | The Content Marketing Hat | Scoop.it
POST
Mike Allton's insight:

Why Is The Hootsuite Compose Field Blank?

If you've been using Hootsuite for a while, you may have noticed that now, whenever you use the browser extension to share content, the Compose field is completely blank.

While there was good reason for the change, it's not without its issues. Not only is it a major change in user behavior, but there are several aspects to be aware of, like where the text for a tweet comes from, or what happens when you attach an image.

As a +Hootsuite user, you're going to want to take a few minutes to review these changes.

Let me know if you have questions, and if there are additional modifications, I'll update the article.

Facebook Adds Authorship. Bloggers Take Note!

Facebook Adds Authorship. Bloggers Take Note! | The Content Marketing Hat | Scoop.it
Facebook's latest feature is designed to give content consumers an easy way to follow and see more great content from the writers they like. This will be huge for bloggers!
Mike Allton's insight:

Facebook AUTHORSHIP

Yes, you read that right. While Google may have shuttered authorship, Facebook appears intent on reviving it. In their own special way.

Now, writers and purveyors of content can gain additional authorship information added to their shared content, which makes this particularly helpful and important to bloggers.

Today's article explains what Facebook Authorship is, how to set it up in a matter of minutes, and what it really means for bloggers and journalists.

And I'm curious what you think... will Facebook Authorship take off? Will it make you pay more attention to how wrote an article and perhaps follow them?

Thanks, and have a great weekend!

Don’t Send a Raven. Use Modern Methods For Communicating With Customers. - The SiteSell Blog

Instead of sending out coupons and hoping for the best, use the highly efficient marketing methods the Internet has to offer for your small business today.
Mike Allton's insight:

Shall I send a raven, my lord?

I've been a fan of Game of Thrones for nearly 20 years, and in that time, I've always marvelled at the role of the raven throughout the tapestry of the story.

Westeros has no Internet or modern communication methods, leaving castles and kingdoms to rely on the whim and fancy of birds to send and receive messages.

Yet, despite that fictional world, many businesses seem to be operating with the mindset that all they can do is send ravens to communicate with their customers.

Have you noticed that?

Why I Broke My Promise To Myself

Why I Broke My Promise To Myself | The Content Marketing Hat | Scoop.it

Mike Allton's insight:

I Swore I'd Never Do This!

A couple years ago, people started telling me that I should host my own Hangout On Air series. To say I was reluctant is an understatement.
