Scheduling Google+ Posts, The Complete Guide

Scheduling Google+ Posts, The Complete Guide | The Content Marketing Hat | Scoop.it
Whether for your personal profile or your brand page, the desire and question of how to schedule Google Plus posts is one that comes up daily, yet the answers aren't obvious. Here are ALL of your options.
Mike Allton's insight:

How to Schedule Google+ Posts, The Complete Guide

Scheduling posts and activity to Google+ is one of the most common questions, probably because everyone wants to be able to do it at one time or another, and of course Google+ offers no such option built-in.

But to complicate matters more, the array of third-party tools that are available aren't all the same. Essentially, some support personal profiles, while others only support brand pages.

While there isn't yet a single tool to rule them all, I can offer you a complete comparison of the free tools and techniques, some additional paid social media management tools that make for great options, and even debunk a few myths and legends that really don't work at all.

Learn more: http://owl.li/tpYkW

Of all the tools available, is there one that you rely on the most? Are there any that I've completely missed and need to review pronto?

Thanks! And if this is a hot topic for you, please share and bookmark as I will be keeping this post updated as options develop.

Why Followers, Not Follower Counts, Matter Most

Why Followers, Not Follower Counts, Matter Most | The Content Marketing Hat | Scoop.it
There's a grand misperception among business owners and social media users that follower counts are extremely important. Too much talk and emphasis is placed on how so-and-so has one million followers. The reality is that after a point, none of that matters. It's true that a new business Twitter account that has zero followers is both unimpressive and ineffective, but once you've picked up some followers, it's highly unlikely that anyone else would care how many you have.
Mike Allton's insight:

How Many Followers Do You Have?

Do you think that's an important question? Do you think it's relevant to your business and your social media presence?

I think there's far too much talk and emphasis on how many people have chosen to follow one person or another, and here's why...

LinkedIn Publishing is Jet Fuel for Your Business

LinkedIn Publishing is Jet Fuel for Your Business | The Content Marketing Hat | Scoop.it
Over the years, when asked where my clients and readers should publish their content, my response has always been on their own website. It’s imperative, I’ve argued, that you own your own content.
Mike Allton's insight:

Over the years, when asked where my clients and readers should publish their content, my response has always been on their own website. It’s imperative, I’ve argued, that you own your own content. And if that content has been published elsewhere, you won’t own it, you won’t control the reader experience, and you won’t be able to leverage that content as fully as you might on your own site.

So am I being wishy washy when I tell you that you should be publishing to LinkedIn?

Read on, and then I’ll let you judge whether I’ve pulled a flip flop.

By using your own custom branded short link, you reinforce your brand awareness, as well as ensure that you're taking full advantage of all the benefits shortened links offer. Learn how!
Mike Allton's insight:

How to Create a Branded Short Link

Short links. The internet is full of 'em. Over the past ten years, they've become ingrained into every aspect of our online lives. TinyURL's and Goo.gl's and Bit.ly's and more. Each one promising quick, abbreviated access to wonderful news and information.

But what if you could do more?

What if you could not only use such links to track effectiveness of your social shares and online activity, but also communicate brand at the same time?

We're talking about using custom branded short links -- URLs that reflect your business name in some way, rather than a random third-party service. Using TheSMH.co instead of bit.ly, for instance.

Today's article walks you through what shortened URLs are, what you can do with them, and how you too can set up your own branded shortener that can be used by Bit.ly, Buffer and more.

How to Tame the Email Beast Using Gmail

How to Tame the Email Beast Using Gmail | The Content Marketing Hat | Scoop.it
For many small businesses and entrepreneurs, email is at once a blessing and a curse. It's a great way to communicate with clients and keep a record of conversations, but there are challenges. Traditional email clients — the program you would use to check email — installed on your computer and made checking email remotely a challenge. And for those that get more than 2 emails a day, how do you organize them all?
Mike Allton's insight:

Struggling to Tame the Email Beast?

How many emails are sitting your Inbox right now? How many times have you struggled to find an important message because it's lost in that sea of read and unread missives?

Or worse, how often have you wanted to send an email, but aren't at your computer?

Early last year I switched to using +Gmail as my email provider, and that's made an incredible difference. My emails are organized, streamlined, and accessible wherever I'm at.

In today's article, I'll walk you through how to set up Gmail so that you can still use a professional email address (your domain name), and I'll share my system for organizing my Gmail and emails. I also share a couple of bonus items on how Gmail, specifically, pairs well with LinkedIn and Hootsuite.

Social Media Active Users by Network [INFOGRAPH]

Social Media Active Users by Network [INFOGRAPH] | The Content Marketing Hat | Scoop.it
One of the most common questions from both businesses and social media marketers is "how many?" How many users. How many people. How many opportunities - for each of the social networks. Here are updated Active User Counts.
Mike Allton's insight:

Social Media Active Users (UPDATED!)

Yesterday, in their quarterly financial release, Twitter reported a nice increase in active monthly users, up to 271 million from 250 back in April.

On the other hand, Facebook reported last month that their active monthly usage was 1.07 billion - down significantly from the 1.28 billion previously reported.

Since our last usage data for YouTube was in March of 2013, it's quite possible that YouTube's reported 1 billion monthly actives is stale and that the video giant has passed Facebook as the most active social network.

I will continue to monitor and update this post and corresponding graphics as each network reports new numbers. For more information, including an updated infograph with Facebook, YouTube, Google+, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest and Vine data, the complete article is below.

How to Delegate Facebook Advertising

How to Delegate Facebook Advertising | The Content Marketing Hat | Scoop.it
Effective Facebook advertising requires extensive knowledge of Facebook ad types, best practices and more. If you're going to use an Ad Manager, here's how to give them access.
Mike Allton's insight:

Don't Give Your Facebook Password to Account Managers

Facebook ads are one of the most powerful and effective forms of paid advertising available, but that power comes with a price, above and beyond the cost of the ads.

The small business owner can either spend the requisite time needed to master the Ads Manager and associated advertising techniques, or hire a campaign manager to do it for them.

As a social media advertising consultant, I spend a considerable amount of time working with clients to help develop the best possible ad campaigns on Facebook, Twitter and elsewhere. But I often run into business owners who have provided previous managers with access to their personal Facebook profiles so they can manage their ads.

You don't have to do that.

This article will walk you through designating a campaign manager for your Facebook ad campaign without giving them the "keys to the kingdom." It also reviews how to set up your billing, and some basic best practices when it comes to Facebook advertising.
