How To Create Google +Post Ads

How To Create Google +Post Ads | The Content Marketing Hat | Scoop.it
Google has implemented a system where active Google+ businesses can promote their Google+ posts throughout the Google display network as an ad. Here's how to get started.
Mike Allton's insight:

How To Create Google +Post Ads

As you may have heard, Google opened up the +Post ad option to anyone with at least 1000 followers this week.

+Mark Traphagen explained that, “What’s different here is that Google is enabling social content ads that aren’t on the social platform. Instead of littering Google+ with ads (one of the unsung benefits of Google+ is that three years in its stream are still ad free), +Post ads are places where people expect to see ads: on websites that already have Google Display ads.”

So how do we get started? Many businesses are chomping at the bit to start experimenting with these new ads and working toward driving traffic and interest to their business and Google+ presence. So I've written up exactly how to do that. Using the guide below, you'll be able to create your first Campaign and +Post Ad.

We'll also go over the different ad sizes and types, and reveal a couple of new findings.

Learn more: http://bit.ly/1i1S7PU

What questions do you have about +Post Ads? Will you consider using them for your own business? Does it help to know that you can use posts from a personal profile or a page?

Building Credibility Through Your Blog – What Do You Need to Know?

Building Credibility Through Your Blog – What Do You Need to Know? | The Content Marketing Hat | Scoop.it
Blogging is a great way of earning natural links, but it’s even a better way of building relationships with authoritative online entities and your personal/business credibility. Here's how to build credibility through your blog.
Mike Allton's insight:

How Credible Are You?

One of the tenets that I teach my clients is to use their blog and social media to bring prospective customers to a point where they know, like and trust you. That's buildingcredibility.

Each blog post and discussion on social networks should help clients get to know you better and recognize as you as an authority in your industry and niche.

Is that working for you?

If not, you may need to do an audit of your blog and social strategy. Your blog should:

1. Align With What Your Business Stands For
2. Always Deliver Quality
3. Connect With Influencers
4. Post Regularly
5. Show Readers That You Care

+Jon Reiter goes into more detail into what each of these areas means. Take a look, and let me know what you might add or question.

Thanks, and have a great day!

Google Plus Adds View Count to Profiles and Pages

Google Plus Adds View Count to Profiles and Pages | The Content Marketing Hat | Scoop.it
While people and pages have always shown how many other people have circled them, Google has now added the ability to see how many times your profile or page has been Viewed. +Kenneth Manesse Sr. pointed out that now, on your profile page next to your follower count, there's a new metric called Views. The metric is there for both personal profiles and business Pages.
Mike Allton's insight:

Google+ View Counts for Profiles & Pages

If you've ever been curious just how many people have checked you out, or taken a look at your Page on Google+, now you can tell just be looking.

In an update first noted by +Kenneth Manesse Sr., profiles and Pages now sport a fancy "View Count" just under their profile image in their header.

Yet that may not be the most important news. For Pages, note that now, instead of a +1 count, your Page displays your follower count.

You Can No Longer +1 Pages

At first glance, I think this is a great improvement, as many business owners were confused over the value of a +1 vs. a follower for their Page. And it also offers Page visitors a clear call to action - follow us!

Take a look at your own View Counts and that of your business Page and let me know what you think! Do you like the new metric, and do you think the loss of +1 counts for Pages is a big deal?

HootSuite Improves Scheduling With Daily Customization

HootSuite Improves Scheduling With Daily Customization | The Content Marketing Hat | Scoop.it
HootSuite has added a Buffer-like option to set which days of the week you want to share AutoScheduled posts, and how many times per day.
Mike Allton's insight:

If you like HootSuite, you're going to love this!

I noticed something new the other day. While creating a post within HootSuite that I was going to schedule out to Twitter, I saw that now, next to the AutoSchedule button, there was a new gear icon there that I'd never seen before. Intrigued, I clicked it and found that at some point recently, +HootSuite had added settings for AutoSchedule!

Now, much like Buffer, you can pick and choose which days you want AutoSchedule to post on, how many times a day, and even the hours during which you want those posts to be shared.

Take a look at what the little owl left us and be sure to give some thought to how you want your own settings to work.

What do you think? Is this better than Buffer?

The Top Tactics and Goals of Social Media Marketing

The Top Tactics and Goals of Social Media Marketing | The Content Marketing Hat | Scoop.it
Software Advice has partnered with Adobe to put together a Social Media Content Optimization Survey. The results are extremely interesting because they represent, not just what companies and social media marketers are doing and having success with, but also a shift in how social media is perceived by businesses.
Mike Allton's insight:

What are the Top Tactics & Goals of Social Media Marketers?

When I took a look at this survey from Adobe and Software Advice on what businesses and marketers were doing and hoping to accomplish on social media, I wasn't too surprised to see that "Use of Photos and Images" was the number one tactic. It's something many of us talk about all the time - you must use great images in your blog and social media posts!

What was surprising though was how the rest of the tactics in use shaked out. And even more surprising was the #1 Goal for social media managers and business marketers - a goal that most of them said they not only were striving for, but achieving. And that was to...

Sorry, no, you'll have to read the article for that!

But I'm truly interested to know what your own experience last year and so far this year has been. What tactics have you employed and which ones have brought you the most success? What have your goals been for social media?

For me, my top goals align perfectly with those from the survey, and my most important tactic has definitely been to step up my game with imagery. What about you?

Thanks, and have a fantastic day!

I know for sure that small businesses do not have 5 figure marketing budgets for content marketing.  Their content goals have to be more modest, like sharing user content, tips and images. They can, however, curate content economically.
