Awesome Chart for Teachers- Alternatives to Traditional Homework | Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

Awesome Chart for Teachers- Alternatives to Traditional Homework | Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | Awesome Tech Tools | Scoop.it

I just came across this chart somewhere online and find it really interesting and worth sharing with you here in Educational Technology and Mobile Learning. The chart is created by connectedprincipals and features some alternative ways to do "traditional' homework. I am not really sure the labelling of homework as traditional is a correct nomenclature or not because for me there is no such a thing called traditional homework, any work  scheduled to be done at home is a homework. This is how I see it from my end.

The alternative ways suggested here are important though. If you look at them analytically you will see that they center around actively engaging students in the learning task through a variety of ways including, critical thinking, brainstorming, concept mapping...etc.

Have a look and share with us what you this of this work.

Another good thing about Edmodo ,which I like so much, is its security. The data you upload there or the materials you share are safe and you can even customize your privacy settings to grant  access to only certain people.

Edmodo is also one of the best means of teacher-student communication. It allows students and teachers to stay connected via sending notes , replying to posts  and checking messages and upcoming events while  away from the classroom.

Paula Jamieson's curator insight, May 9, 2013 5:23 PM

I have been having 'battery' issues with my iPhone so this post was timely. I use my iphone for personally and professional use almost 24/7 and often the battery is not lasting the day (particularly when I use camera/video/email/social networking/fitness tracking apps all day eg weekends!) I don't personally agree with all of it. In my opinion, by disabling some of this features you are also 'depowering' the device. I do agree with disabling the Location Services feature on 'unnecessary' apps that you don't regularly use. I also agree with disabling  the Notifications function on many apps (I've just done this on the majority of mine so will be interested to see if it makes a difference.). As with any 'tips and tricks' type advice I'd give it a go (as long as it is on a 'surface' level and not delving into the inner workings of the device and also that you have the confidence to 'revert' things if you need to), if it makes a difference for you then it was worth it.
