The Best Flight Attendant Uniforms In American History

The Best Flight Attendant Uniforms In American History | Aviation & Airliners | Scoop.it

Image via PaperMag.com. There was once a time when American flight attendants had uniforms designed by Pierre Balmain, Halston and Emilio Pucci, as well as other notable names. In the past, the stewardess was a model of sorts—each woman had to measure a certain height and weight proportion (a 5'4" woman couldn't weigh more than 125 pounds in order to apply for a stewardess position with American Airlines), and was required to be single and reasonably attractive, as determined by each airline.

Branson and DiCaprio Are Boldly Going Where No Greens Have Gone Before

Branson and DiCaprio Are Boldly Going Where No Greens Have Gone Before | Aviation & Airliners | Scoop.it

If all goes according to plan, Hollywood icon Leonardo DiCaprio will blast into space aboard the maiden voyage of Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic spaceship sometime this year, opening up a new era of civilian space travel. This development might only be remarkable as the fulfillment of a dream long predicted by futurists and technophiles, were it not for the fact that Messrs. Branson and DiCaprio are prominent environmentalist celebrities who have warned of a coming ecological catastrophe if we fail to address our carbon problem.

American Airlines employees choose flag tail design | Aviation & Airliners | Scoop.it
About 60 percent of employees voted, and the flag tail design won approval over the historic double-A by a margin of 2,292 votes.

After a company-wide vote with 60,418 votes cast, American announced Thursday that its aircraft livery will feature the new flag tail design that was unveiled last January.

“It was very close, but the majority has spoken, and the new flag tail will proudly represent American Airlines — and all of us — for years to come,” said American Chief Executive Doug Parker. “This livery now represents the people of American Airlines. We voted for it and it is ours.”

Now Boarding: A History of Airports

Now Boarding: A History of Airports | Aviation & Airliners | Scoop.it

Every day, hundreds of thousands of people travel through airports and millions of people travel by airplane. You grumble and bitch and complain about everything, don’t you? It’s far to walk, your bags are too heavy. You can’t take this, that, the other, and another thing, onto the plane. The gates and terminals are miles apart and you’re running late. Security-checks, baggage snafus, X-rays, immigration, and that endless standing and watching and waiting and walking and running…and at all possible hours of the day and night !
