The French distinguished taste is refined as well as plenty of new additional services. What a pleasure to be flying with Air France.

Flight attendants do more than pour your drinks and point out the emergency exits. Here are ten examples of cabin crew going well beyond the call of duty.

It’s hard to remember this sometimes when they’re pouring your champagne but flight attendants are the most important safety feature on your plane. They undergo rigorous training to comply with the industry standards. The International Civil Aviation Organisation sets the standard globally and requires crew to annually demonstrate the ability tofight fires and perform CPR, along with other life-saving duties.

Dubai will spend $32 billion on expanding its second airport to handle over 200 million people annually next decade, roughly triple the current level of passenger traffic through the emirate, airport authorities said on Monday.
The expansion could allow Dubai's fast-growing flagship carrier Emirates to shift its operations to the new facility by the mid-2020s, airport officials said. That might prompt other international airline operations in Dubai to follow suit because of business ties to the Emirates group.
Al Maktoum International Airport began accepting passengers in October last year and currently has a capacity of only about 5 million people per year. It opened some four years later than originally planned after a financial crisis forced Dubai to revise some of its mega-projects.

The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has blamed pilot error for the crash of an UPS Airlines Airbus A300-600, which crashed on approach to Birmingham, Alabama, on Aug. 14, 2013. The accident killed both pilots when the aircraft burst into flames after hitting a hill less than a mile short of the airport. UPS Airlines is owned by United Parcel Service.
According to NTSB, UPS Flight 1354 crashed “because the crew continued an unstabilized approach into Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport in Birmingham, Ala. In addition, the crew failed to monitor the altitude and inadvertently descended below the minimum descent altitude when the runway was not yet in sight.”
The end is in sight for the days of falling airfares and empty planes with both major Australian domestic airlines saying the battle for customers is too bruising.
The fierce war for customers between Qantas Airways and Virgin Australia has seen the average price of the lowest-cost domestic economy class tickets fall by 32 per cent since September 2011, according to government data.
The constant discounting has taken its toll on both airlines and turned the domestic market from one which churned out $1 billion in profits a year to one where losses totalled $100 million.

Authorities will publish a first report on the July crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 on Tuesday, including data from the black box. The indestructible recorder helps experts reconstruct aircraft accidents.
Essentially, a black box flight recorder is heavily protected recording device, similar to a hard disk or a memory card. The black box records all relevant flight data, in addition to conversations in the cockpit. Previously, this data had to be recorded on two different devices. But today there are also units that can do both. According to regulations, however, every airplane must have two of these devices on board.
