The Breguet 761/763/765 were a family of 1940s and 1950s French double-deck transport aircraft produced by Breguet. The aircraft were normally called the Deux-Ponts (Double-Decker) but it was not an official name.

The Provence was used on fewer and fewer passenger services, being replaced by the Caravelle and Vickers Viscount. Six aircraft were transferred to the Armée de l'Air. Air France converted the six remaining Br.763s into freighters with the name Universale. These remained in service on European freight services until the early 1970s. The final flight was on 31 March 1971 from Heathrow to Paris-Orly.

How to collect vintage airline posters; Air France deals on Europe flights | Aviation & Airliners | Scoop.it

The colourful and nostalgic world of vintage airline posters, and how to collect them, is explained by a German graphic designer known only as Michael on his attractive and easy-to-navigate website, Propeller Propaganda. Featuring a couple of hundred posters from his personal compilation – dating mainly from the 1930s to 60s, a time before bland uniformity overtook airline marketing – the site also offers advice on assembling collections by airline, aircraft type, poster artist, destination, artistic style and so on.

Air France-KLM to Try a Different Way to Transform Its Airlines | Aviation & Airliners | Scoop.it

Air France-KLM Group will overhaul its restructuring efforts, moving away from the previous chief executive’s strategy that strained relations with pilots, to a more conciliatory approach called “Trust Together,” said a person familiar with the plans. Jean-Marc Janaillac, who became CEO in July, will unveil the program in November that seeks to lower costs as well as rebuild trust between management and labor, and between the group’s sister airlines, said the person, who asked for anonymity because the program isn’t public.

Swiss Taste: Fine Dining At 35,000 Feet

Swiss Taste: Fine Dining At 35,000 Feet | Aviation & Airliners | Scoop.it

For most frequent travelers, airline meals are an aspect of flying that is more endured than enjoyed. In fact, the late Julia Child was famous for bringing peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on transatlantic flights, proclaiming, “They even stay good for a day or two if you don’t eat them all on the plane.”
One notable exception has always been the airline of Switzerland, first Swissair (March 1931 to March 2002), and its reincarnation on April 1, 2002 as SWISS International Air Lines (www.swiss.com). Like its predecessor, SWISS has carried on the tradition of Swiss hospitality, as practiced in the country’s luxury hotels, in the air.

Five New Ideas to be Explored by NASA Aeronautics Teams

Five New Ideas to be Explored by NASA Aeronautics Teams | Aviation & Airliners | Scoop.it

They might not work, but no one will know for sure unless they’re given a chance.
That’s the general idea behind the recent selection of five aviation-related technologies for vigorous study as part of NASA’s ongoing Convergent Aeronautics Solutions project during the next two years of so, which itself is now in its second year.
Researchers will study a new kind of fuel cell, increasing electric motor output with the help of 3D printing, use of Lithium-Air batteries to store energy, new mechanisms for changing the shape of a wing in flight and basing a new antenna design on the use of lightweight aerogel.

Boeing Everett plant set to roll out 500th 787 Dreamliner - HeraldNet.com

Boeing Everett plant set to roll out 500th 787 Dreamliner - HeraldNet.com  | Aviation & Airliners | Scoop.it

The airplane is in pieces, now, but it’s in the factory: the 500th Boeing 787.
Workers loaded the Air France 787-9 onto the Everett plant’s final assembly line earlier this month, putting the program on track to be the fastest to crank out 500 twin-aisle jetliners. Boeing’s plant here and in North Charleston, South Carolina, are steadily delivering Dreamliners — nearly 12 a month. And the 787s are making good on what matters most to airlines: the company’s big claims to make an airplane that slashes operating costs and opens new markets.

The new aircraft would compete with the Airbus A321neo.
Boeing is still studying whether to build a larger version of its best-selling 737 aircraft to counter runaway sales by rival Airbus of a large version of its competing plane, a senior executive said.
The company has not made a decision yet to build the larger jet, dubbed the 737 MAX 10, said Michael Teal, vice president and chief project engineer of the 737 MAX program.
