Love is in the air in Clayton at area restaurants and special event venues where couples will have several choices for an evening out on Saturday, February 14th. And not to forget our friends east on I-40, the Preston Woodall House is holding a special event too!
After three months of display the 14 rocking chairs of the “Benson Is A Rocking” public art campaign will be removed. Each chair was painted by a local artist and displayed in Downtown Benson. The last time to see the chairs will be at the Benson Harvest Festival on October 25th from 9am-2pm in the Benson Singing Grove.
Johnston County has young, aspiring talent in 11-year-old Abby Stephens from Benson....maybe she will be the next Carrie Underwood or even Taylor Swift. Abby loves to sing country, Christian, rock classics, and pop music and she\'s currently writing original songs.
Benson artist, Jimmy Capps, to be inducted into the NC Music Hall of Fame, October 16th in Kannapolis, NC.

On Thursday, October 16, the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame’s 2014 Induction Ceremony will be held at the historic Gem Theatre in Kannapolis, NC at 7:15pm. Congratulations to Jimmy Capps of Benson.
Jimmy Capps is a studio guitarist who has played on thousands of recordings, as well as, in the Staff Band at the Grand Ole Opry. Hit recordings that Capps as played on include “Stand By Your Man” by Tammy Wynette, “He Stopped Loving Her Today” by George Jones,” “The Gambler” by Kenny Rogers, “The Rose” by Conway Twitty and “The Lighthouse” by the Hinsons.
The Ava Gardner Festival is scheduled for October 3-5 in historic downtown Smithfield and will open new exhibits showcasing the fashion of NC native and legendary actress Ava Gardner. The festival includes a partnership with the Clayton Piano Festival that will feature a concert, "Movie Tunes" on Oct. 4th and visitors will meet local designer and Project Runway finalist, Justin LeBlanc, who will be at the museum the morning of Oct. 4th.

The Ava Gardner Museum strives to include other cultural events and venues in the area to showcase film, music, food, shopping and all things of interest for visitors to enjoy. This year's festival continues to promote the area with a partnership with the Clayton Piano Festival, a tribute to director John Huston, whose movie "The Maltese Falcon" will be showing at the Museum of Art on Friday, Oct. 3rd, and scheduling local designer Justin LeBlanc to visit the museum on Saturday.
