We at Pellonautocentre call these courtesy cars

This concept was started by the large franchise garages a few years ago now. In those days small garages relied upon motorists who lived very close by, and would drop off the car and probably catch the bus to work,or walk to school with the kids dropping off the car on there way to school, even teachers lived local.

As the years went by and competition became more intense, people started to buy houses in different area a few miles from work and families became more wealthier, with the wife having a second car. This meant that these families could not do without a car.

Then came the advent of the courtesy or loan car. it was started off by the bigger companies, but switched on indipendent garages soon started to use them to retain their customer base. Now they are pretty standard items, in fact we here in Halifax have got no fewer than six cars for our clients use.
