Another study linking medical conditions. This one, conducted by a top university, and published in JAMA Pediatrics, is solid. The question is always, how does this change things? The answer, not much. We already treat preeclampsia, no one wants it, no one wants to bring it on during a pregnancy, so we are left with the more important question for me, how do we support individuals with developmental challenges of relating and communicating?

The cost of supporting a person with autism over a lifetime can be as high as $2.4 million, a new study estimates.

The highest costs here, education and lost wages of the parents. A developmental model is cheaper, as it supports the families to work with kids within the context of their daily life. Cost effective, developmentally informed respite, in home or out, would help recover some of the highly stressed family's lost wages.
