The 21 Best Infographics Of 2013

The 21 Best Infographics Of 2013 | Authors must do this | Scoop.it

Over the course of the year, we saw infographics on a wide range of subjects, including 20th-century camera and sneaker design, house alliances of The Game Of Thrones, a colorwheel of cheeses, undersea internet cabling, beard typography, Batman symbols, and much, much more.

For years, marketers without a lick of design sense were slapping clip art on any data set that came their way and calling the finished poster an infographic. In 2013, there was a backlash against shoddy infographics. Perhaps that's why it feels like this year's data viz design is the most sophisticated, and the most accessible, yet: infographics don't have to be stupid anymore to be for everyone.

For your end-of-year perusal, we've collected 21 of our favorite infographics of 2013 in the slide show above. On the data viz front, we can't wait to see what 2014 has in store. Enjoy!...

Not PR: A Top 10 Check List of What PR is Not - exploreB2B | Authors must do this | Scoop.it

Too often - and yet understandably - people outside of the PR profession ask what PR is all about. But explaining what it is does not mean that it answers the sometimes negative thinking behind the question in the first place. So here's a top 10 check list of What PR is Not.

So what the heck is PR? Well, here's what it's not.

I myself have been asked this question many times "what is PR?". Instead of trying to explain everything that this profession is, I like this approach of explaining everything this profession isn't. The list is much shorter.

I especially like the "PR is not marketing/advertising" since many people think it is - I also have a hard time staying away from marketing tactics sometimes.

The next time I am asked this question, I would feel comfortable sharing this article.
