AuthorHouse Presents John Oharenko

AuthorHouse Presents John Oharenko | AuthorHouse Author Testimonials | Scoop.it
AuthorHouse author John Oharenko applies the rules of warfare to real estate investing in his new book, Combat Investor.

“After many years in the business,” writes Oharenko, “I realized that real estate is very much like warfare. Both share the same goal— territorial control. Both use many common tactics for gaining ground.”

Intriguing and straightforward, Combat Investor teaches readers the art of real estate investment. By applying military tactics to real estate, Oharenko illustrates how the savvy and militant buyer can profitably conquer deals.

Readers will learn:

        How to hone land-grabbing instincts.
The formula for a successful war chest, with techniques on assessing capital risks, measuring thirst for competitive battle, and identifying individual combat investor “style.”
Targeting deal battlefields based upon locations and property types.
Training to fight in current and future investment battlefronts using proven military tactics.

AuthorHouse | JoAnn Fastoff - Teaching Can Be Learning Part 2

AuthorHouse | JoAnn Fastoff - Teaching Can Be Learning Part 2 | AuthorHouse Author Testimonials | Scoop.it
AuthorHouse presents part two of a three-part guest blog by JoAnn Fastoff, awarding-winning self-published author of The Lie.
Angelyn Cañete's insight:
Teaching Can Be Learning (Part Two) by JoAnn Fastoff

Homework was a bad word to my students, because I gave it each week. Although the groans were quite audible the first several weeks, they became quieter and quieter as the weeks passed. I think what happened was that they began to realize the freedom that came from writing.  I think they began to see the “homework” not as a burden, but as an opportunity.

Several weeks into the class, the students were required to write an article about a charity they were passionate about. They were not to include facts or statistics; they had to write about the charity based on their level of passion. They had to make their reader want to give.  They had to provide an address and phone number and whatever else was necessary for a person to reach into their pocket.  They had to express their passion and beliefs in words compelling enough to get people to act. Why was that important? Because most people can’t sell an idea on paper to strangers.  It was the passion they expressed in these essays that was an important part of learning to write.

AuthorHouse Welcomes JoAnn Fastoff

AuthorHouse Welcomes JoAnn Fastoff | AuthorHouse Author Testimonials | Scoop.it
Author's Digest welcomes JoAnn Fastoff, whose novel The Lie recently received an Outstanding Achievement in Fiction award
Angelyn Cañete's insight:

What inspired you to write The Lie and how long did it take you to finish it?

I read that many children in Africa age 7 to 12 work in the diamond mines, specifically The Democratic Republic of Congo. By the time these children are 12 years old they have either lost a limb or an eye or suffered a heart attack. AT AGE TWELVE!

It was too much for me not to write about this reality, even in a novel setting. It took me 18 months to finish the book.

AuthorHouse Talks More with J. J. Marshall

AuthorHouse Talks More with J. J. Marshall | AuthorHouse Author Testimonials | Scoop.it
Author's Digest continues its discussion with J. J. Marshall, author of the self-published science fiction novel When the World Ends...
Angelyn Cañete's insight:

What’s the message you’d like to convey to your readers about your book?

I’d like people to change their minds about sci-fi as a genre. I think it is so underrated, but with my book I hope that people can see that it doesn’t have to be stereotypical of what people think. This book is about people; their relationships and trials and tribulations, set against a sci-fi background. It’s still a sci-fi adventure but with people at the heart of it; something which everyone can relate to.
