I am now expanding this to include 'rescooping' from the scoopit topics of other users I follow.

Of course, your suggestions are welcome too. I want to see how much useful content comes my way without having to leave the scoopit site.

Jean Anning's insight:

17/02/2013 - I can't help myself - I can't resist a good site - I WILL include gems from those wonderful people in my twitter world. Thanks folks :)

15/02/2014 - Do you need websites to support a specific area of your teaching program? Contact me (I'm easy to find on twitter) and I may be able to help :)

ACMI Story Monster

ACMI Story Monster | Australian Curriculum - English | Scoop.it

From the Australian Centre for the Moving Image: Users design a hungry monster who loves to gobble words. The monster needs training to make well-structured sentences. The player helps the monster choose the right parts of speech from a constantly moving selection of words. When the sentence is complete, the player can see it animated and hear it read out loud. At the end of the game the monster can be added to a gallery for other players to admire.

Jean Anning's insight:

Clear and intuitive interface, lots of fun. Do not need to register to use the site :)

This is a great electronic resource that could most easily be implimented into the classroom teachings of the alphabet. This resource would be displayed on an ipad for individual students or even for the whole class on an interactive white board. The 21st century learning focusses on this electronic interactive based learning. I especially like that the accent is Australian.

This is a great English and technology resource that I believe would be very popular with the boys ;).  As a beginning teacher I am always looking for new ways to inspire students to take an interest in reading and literacy.  Tools like this, which are outside the traditonal literacy square, help kids that may not be interested in reading or writing get involved in their literacy learning.  A resource for upper primary.
