NSW has fallen behind other states in key areas of waste management and is likely to fall short of targets despite record levels of household recycling.

Even though NSW households have managed to reduce their impact of waste by recycling it wasn't enough to cover the large impact major industries and companies have, because of this if we want to see a decrease in waste produced by NSW a program has to be set up for major companies to follow.

Farmers are backing Australia's push to use better agricultural land management as a way to reduce carbon emissions.
Alyssa Di Pino's insight:

Australian farmers are against what other countries overseas are doing and want the Australian government to hold their ground on their initial decision to use better agricultural land management as a way to reduce carbon emissions, because if they do so Australia would be able to commit to 25 per cent greenhouse gas cuts by 2020.

The battle to save some of the state's most spectacular beachfront properties from severe erosion is set to escalate.
Alyssa Di Pino's insight:

Due to the coastal erosion taking place it has now made it a major problem for private property owners to cope with the battle on their own. It is affecting numeours Australian families and the government have responded by only seeing the need to take care of the publicly owned properties and turned a blind eye towards private owners.

Too often, we become so consumed by what presents to be the problem that we overlook what might be an obvious solution.
Alyssa Di Pino's insight:

I feel that the governement really needs to start addressing this matter as we need to design and build rural and provincial centres which can be pockets of urban culture. So many people move from country towns to the inner suburbs of cities not just because of work, but because of boredom and a desire for the entertainments, cafes and social environments associated with cities.

Long-term exposure to particulate air pollution boosts the risk of lung cancer, even at concentrations below the legal maximum, says a European study published on Wednesday.
Alyssa Di Pino's insight:

The results from the airticle show that no one is safe from the threat of getting lung cancer from the catastrophic levels of air pollution surrounding us. The higher the level of air quality standards the greater risk the people are faced with, as demonstrated by this statistic "Every increase of five microgrammes per cubic metre of PM2.5 drove the risk of lung cancer up by 18 per cent."
