Two More Fabulous Ways to Use Aurasma for Education

Two More Fabulous Ways to Use Aurasma for Education | Augmented Reality | Scoop.it
As I mentioned in "Trends for Education in the 2013-2014 School Year," augmented reality is going to be big in education. Really big. It has the potential to allow students to experience learning in so many different ways.

Augmented Reality Using Aurasma | The Teaching Palette

Augmented Reality Using Aurasma | The Teaching Palette | Augmented Reality | Scoop.it

"I definitely think like a kid when it comes to technology- it has to be fun or I don’t really want anything to do with it. Maybe that’s why I LOOOVE Augmented Reality (AR) and the Aurasma app. Similar to the way a mobile device scans a QR code and links to a website, AR lets you see something not there in reality except when viewed through the mobile device."

Kleinspiration: Tons of Classroom Examples Using Augmented Reality with @Aurasma - A Complete How-To Guide! | Augmented Reality | Scoop.it

"Augmented reality allows someone to add another layer to an existing image.  For example, imagine holding your phone over a poster on the wall as if you were going to take a photo of that poster, and then instantly a video starts playing to offer you additional information about that particular poster.  Pretty cool, right?  The first time it happens, it seems like magic."

This is a really great post that not only details how one teacher got into Augmented reality but also serves as a neat primer on marker based AR as well as a quite comprehensive introduction to getting started with Aurasma.

Bring schools to life with Aurasma app

Bring schools to life with Aurasma app | Augmented Reality | Scoop.it

"I’m assuming you’ve seen at least one of the eight Harry Potter films. In the films, one everyday magical experience is that photos are always moving as if they were video screens, even though they are ‘printed’ on paper. Newspaper photos act out the news event as film too, whilst you walk down the road reading. It seems so magical and yet, like so many things these days , there’s an app for that!"

Marco Tempest: The electric rise and fall of Nikola Tesla | Video on TED.com

Combining projection mapping and a pop-up book, Marco Tempest tells the visually arresting story of Nikola Tesla -- called “the greatest geek who ever lived” -- from his triumphant invention of alternating current to his penniless last days.

Not his most recent work, but this is one of my favorites of Marco Tempest's pieces, seen all too infrequently. This is one of the directions I hope others will take their magic in the future...not just a cool trick or "fool you' effect, but the creation of truly magical moments using our special knowledge and sensibilities as magicians.

By the way...do you recognize the "Voice of Tesla' during the piece?
