A Balanced Diet

A Balanced Diet | Athlete Nutrition | Scoop.it

My Thoughts:

The article goes into depth about all the different types of energy and nutrients that you get from eating food. I need to consume more food with energy so my body feels less tired and ready to go each day and without proteins my body will not grow stronger. I think this article did well emphasizing the importance of getting the proper amount from each category. I like how it breaks down the types of minerals and salts and what each one does for the body. I will come back to this article in the future to help balance my meals in college preparation.

A Nutrition Plan for Athletes

A Nutrition Plan for Athletes | Athlete Nutrition | Scoop.it

My Thoughts:

The article really nails down the specific details about each meal you should have and the amount of food that should be consumed at what time. This article is great as it explained a lot to me about keeping my body healthy and why each part of my diet plays a role in the performance I have in athletics. I never even thought about the lack of nutrients breaking down my muscles for energy, on top of the importance of eating after you work out. I knew I was supposed to hydrate but the eating part I didn’t know about. I recommend this article for those athletes looking to gain a better knowledge of physical development.

Nutrition for Athletes

My Thoughts:

I feel like the article speak to runners a little more specific as it uses examples based on a runners diet. It gives me a better understanding of the types of supplements to take for what types of muscle or group of muscles I’m trying to build up. I didn’t know about the difference in a supplement that builds endurance over a strength supplement. My body needs the proper balance of energy by eating carbs, fats, lean proteins, and multivitamins. Be careful to only take supplements from a licensed dealer that shows the clear ingredients label on the package. I need to avoid caffeine based products as it is a very bad fuel source for the body.
