From the original article by Tom George on his "Internet Billboards". Here are some interesting excerpts from the post about content curation. "After having spent the better part of four years curating content from renowned bloggers, journalists and authors as well as building a platform here on Internet Billboards, which has evolved into a wonderful community of content curator’s.
Here is my definition of content curation. A content curator is someone who finds, organizes, presents and shares valuable information (content) in many forms, on a specific topic, in a way that provides special context and or a unique engagement with his or her readers. In actuality when done correctly, over time it positions the curator as an expert in his or her respective field and defines their reputation as a thought leader. A good curator will mix curation with his or her own original content, to give interpretations for the express purpose of allowing others to form their own conclusions. ... Why curation and crowdsourcing will and should become more important to you. I will give you ten reasons. 1. There is just too much content; 2. Social Sites Are Full Of Spam; 3. Privacy concerns with big data; 4. Limiting risk and using many minds; 5. Technology must assist us and help us not hinder us; 6. People Will recognize the need to build meaningful relationships; 7. Information will flow freely; 8. Trust and authority will be the new currency; 9. Curation helps you establish relationships with thought leaders; 10. Crowd Sourcing can make things possible..."

As we pass the halfway point of 2013, Pinterest’s rapid growth shows no signs of abating.
According to Reuters, Pinterest has amassed 48.7 million users since its inception three years ago and a study by SimplyMeasured reveals that 69 of the world’s top 100 brands now have Pinterest accounts.
Hot on the heels of the Pinterest business-focused rollouts that we covered earlier, namely account verification, business pages, and the new web analytics tool, there have been a flurry of updates in recent weeks that have left many business owners scratching their heads. So if you’re feeling a tad confused about Pinterest’s new look and its rich pins, you are not alone.
Puckered lips, a sweet-like-sugar couple, a cropped-out group, a 10-year-old scrapbook, an obsessed pet lover, an out-of-proportion bicep, a soon-to-be-unemployed drunkard, a rootless wanderer, a vampire-show-inspired look, a camouflaged-tiny-person-in-the-middle panoramic view – whichever type of profile photo you upload on a social network or online account, it has a meaning, at least according to a website with more than 60 million members. MyLife.com, launched as Reunion.com in 2002, has published a new infographic about the top ten most used types of profile photos and the pics’ meanings. So without further ado, here is the funny infographic.

If you're using Twitter or Google+, half a percent of all everything you read can't be found in dictionary. The LOLs, YOLOs and OMGs, the looools and gottas, all are decidedly not according to Webster. And odds are you’ve seen someone misspell separate, embarrass, achieve or surprise.

Lately all of the news has been around the death of SEO. It’s all about mobile now, and it’s all about writing for readers and forgetting optimization worries. However, the “death” of SEO seems to have overpowered the small fact that companies are starting to come around to the idea of SEO (even in the midst of its suspected near-death).
According to Bright Local, 40 percent of SEOs handle 11 clients or more, with 23 percent handling 21 or more customers, all higher numbers than last year (check out the graph on the webpage). This leads one to wonder: Is SEO really dying, or is it growing under the radar?

The WordPress platform uses plug-ins as a means of extending the many functionalities that are already available. WordPress.com, for various security reasons, does not allow uploading and installation of custom plug-ins by users; however this does not mean that there are no plug-ins installed on the WordPress.com platform.

A title is the most important part of an article or blog post when promoting it online because it’s the first thing that anyone see’s. When writing your LinkedIn profile, your LinkedIn headline is arguably the most important part as it’s the first thing that anyone will see. In this infographic by BlueGlass Interactive, you will find a ton of useful data and information about the power of content marketing.
Marty Note Using this infographic in a presentaiton today. There are three implicaitons hidden inside these numbers including:
* Your Content's 'half-life" is going down. * More content doesn't work anymore. * Content must be great to cut through the clutter. * OR content must we well supported to cut through clutter.
I'm writing up an analysis of whey content marketing is missing an important fulcrum - reviews. "Comments" aren't as engaging as the chance to leave a "review", have those reviews curated and voted upon ("review the reviewer").
Reviews are a game system. Comments can be made into a game system, but making comments convert as well as the immediatley understood reviews AND creating a game system based on comments is harder and a lot to ask.
As an Internet marketer I know it is good to use convention and "reviews" comes with very helpful built in conventions.
