Social Email Marketing: Contest adds 200% more Pinterest followers and engagement | MarketingSherpa | AtDotCom Social media | Scoop.it

Pinterest is not your granddaddy’s social network. The site is dominated by images and has a mosaic-like layout. Now that marketers have stepped in, how can they design emails that appeal to this photo-hungry crowd and attract followers?

One retailer launched a contest on Pinterest and promoted it in a custom email dominated by images. Audience growth shot up 200% during the campaign, and the email’s clickthrough rate beat last year’s by 66%.

Here are the steps the team took in the campaign, and how it designed the email to connect with the design-savvy crowd on Pinterest.

  • Step #1. Build a base of active followers
  • Step #2. Create a contest
  • Step #3. Promote the contest via email

Types of Business Analytics

(1) Descriptive Models:  Descriptive models look into customer’s history to often classify prospects into groups and categorize customers by preferences and life stage. Descriptive models can help you uncover reasons for success and failures in the past, ultimately helping you make informed decisions in the present.

(2) Predictive Models:  Predictive model uses rules and algorithms to help predict a given outcome from specified units. The objective is to assess the likelihood whether a similar unit in a different sample will exhibit exactly same performance. Predictive models often perform calculations during live transactions to evaluate risk or opportunity in order to guide a decision.

(3) Decision Models:  Decision models describe the relationship between all the elements of a decision to predict the results. This model drives set of business rules to produce preferred action for every customer or circumstance.

How To Capitalize On Social’s Multi-Platform Benefits #socialmediamarketing via @MarketingHits

How To Capitalize On Social’s Multi-Platform Benefits #socialmediamarketing via @MarketingHits | AtDotCom Social media | Scoop.it
The way consumers and brands use social media is changing. Consumers are engaging more than ever on social, and brands are relying on data to drive decision-making. What’s more, the platforms consumers interact on are constantly shifting in popularity.

Facebook was once a powerhouse, for example; however, growth is beginning to slow. Instagram, on the other hand, is on a quick incline to the top.

As consumers explore different social media channels, it’s imperative that marketers understand these shifting preferences. Where are consumers talking? Which social platform is the best at engaging millennials? What about baby boomers? Answering these questions is what drives a successful digital marketing strategy.

To answer these questions, Yesmail (my employer) compared its research of social media usage of 50 major retailer brands in five different categories to a Pew Research survey which identified social media usage trends among U.S. adults.

OK -- this article never mentions the word storytelling, yet every single tenent listed -- and their definitions -- applies to storytelling. The post focuses on creativity, and storytelling is a creative act.

Here's how they translate into storytelling:

  1. You are a storyteller
  2. Storytelling is work -- it takes effort
  3. You must go through the motions
  4. Your brain is not a computer
  5. There is no right answer
  6. There is no such thing as failure
  7. You don't see things as They are -- you see them as You are

Go read the article by Michael Michalko to get the definitions for each principle. Then stoke those creativity and storytelling fires the rest of the week.
