Guinness QR Code Pub Beer Glass

Guinness QR Code Pub Beer Glass | AtDotCom Social media | Scoop.it

Guinness' QR code glass is actually a good blend of beer and technology: The QR code is printed on the glass and only works when Guinness (or another black/dark liquid) fills the glass, so don't try filling these glasses with lager, etc. Once full scanning the QR code launches a site that easily/automatically tweets, checks in, posts a status update or sends an Instagram photo about where you are and the fact that you're enjoying a pint of Guinness.

For those of you who don't remember, last year Heineken (actually, I think it was some college kids) conceptualized a bottle opener that would automatically invite Facebook friends to your house for a party every time you opened a bottle.  Seemed exhausting to have a party every time you wanted a beer. See the video here:  http://www.newsy.com/videos/new-heineken-bottle-opener-goes-social

Guiness QR Code: thumbs-up | Heineken's (almost) Social Opener: thumbs-down

Social Media Tips to grow your Content Marketing via @allygreer

Social Media Tips to grow your Content Marketing via @allygreer | AtDotCom Social media | Scoop.it

As Social media is the most important marketing channel right now, for several brands content marketing has extensively replaced advertising as the most prominent tool to make an impact on new and old followers and customers. However, still many small businesses and individuals struggle to fit social media into their content marketing policy. In-order to enhance the reach of your content, social media enables you to control existing networks; moreover it furnishes a testing ground for broad marketing campaigns, and a lot more.

Although these ideas are far from new, they're still three important tips for anyone getting started (or not getting started) on social media.

I'm a firm advocate of #2 - reusing and resharing content. For SMBs who don't have time or resources to create an entire suite of content that will fill up social media channels for days, weeks, or even months, resharing the same content in different contexts is the way to go.

Each morning, I fill up my Scoop.it Smart Scheduler with the top content from our blog over the last month, as these are the pieces that clearly resonated with our audience and could potentially be useful to some new eyes if shared again. It's the best way to ensure that our brand's social media channels are full and also that our content is given a new life every so often.

Great post emphasizing how the classroom and real life are running together like two trains on the same track. Gamification is a classroom natural since it creates an identifiable tribe working on a shared objective with friendly competition and a sale to know who is contributing and who isn't.

Great Forbes post on how gamification is about to be a big hit in the classroom.

#Forbes #article makes a great point about how #Gamification  is a growing  #Trend in #Education and we are only beginning to see its impact.

Forget WhatsApp: 6 Secure Communication Apps You’ve Probably Never Heard Of via @malekalby

Forget WhatsApp: 6 Secure Communication Apps You’ve Probably Never Heard Of via @malekalby | AtDotCom Social media | Scoop.it

The Secure Messaging Scorecard scores the different communication apps on seven dimensions:

  • Are your messages encrypted at all stages of the communication?
  • Is the encryption end-to-end so the messaging company can’t access your communications?
  • Can you verify who you are messaging?
  • If your encryption keys are stolen, are you your previous communications safe?
  • Can the app’s code be independently reviewed?
  • Is the design and implementation of the cryptography documented and available for review?
  • Has the code and implementation been independently audited in the last year?

Using Psychology to Build Social Media Campaigns via @MarketingHits

Using Psychology to Build Social Media Campaigns via @MarketingHits | AtDotCom Social media | Scoop.it
Social media isn’t only about getting likes, repins and retweets – it’s about building meaningful, long-term relationships with your audience.

A few years ago, Ben McAllister and Kate Canales gave a talk at SXSW in which they suggested that all human relationships can be classified into three broad categories:

  1. Authority relationships: Relationships where one individual has clear power over the other. One gives instructions; the other fulfills them. Think employer-employee.
  2. Exchange relationships: Relationships where there is an equal give and take. These relationships are sustained only as long as both parties continue to offer incentives to remain together. Ever reward a user for a “like” on Facebook? That’s a classic exchange relationship.
  3. Communal relationships: Relationships where there is a deep bond of mutual trust between both parties. The relationship does not depend on bribes or incentives to survive; it is propelled along by deep-rooted goodwill and shared common ground. This is the type of relationship we share with our closest friends.

Content Marketing: What To Consider Before You Outsource via @MarketingHits

Content Marketing: What To Consider Before You Outsource via @MarketingHits | AtDotCom Social media | Scoop.it
How many major brands want to create their content marketing in-house? One hundred percent.  That isn’t a made-up statistic. This was an actual finding a couple of years ago when I was conducting content marketing research, interviewing senior executives from over 50 brands such as Nestlé, GE, Adobe, IBM and Coca-Cola.

The next finding was even more interesting. We asked these brands what type of agency they were likely to select for content creation: an ad agency, PR agency, social media agency, or one of the much smaller breed of storytelling agency (e.g., Story Worldwide) when they did outsource.

Once again, a result was universal. While responses were divided more or less equally among the shops they would consider, some 95 percent of these executives said social media shops would not be considered candidates. “Too boutique-y” “too trendy” were the top reasons provided.

There’s no shortage of agencies of all stripes that are eager to get your content business. In addition to the aforementioned flavors, there are also the custom content divisions at established publishing brands, as well as more channel-specific tactical expertise from any number of companies that formerly branded themselves as email or search engine marketing providers, but are now in the content marketing business. Finally, of course, there’s no shortage of smaller, more local content marketing agencies.

Ideas for Content Optimization Other Than Keywords

Ideas for Content Optimization Other Than Keywords | AtDotCom Social media | Scoop.it

If you are active in content marketing, I guess you have heard (or read) the advice that you have to keyword optimize your content. While I agree that you should consider which are the words people expect you to use for certain topics and which terms are commonly used, I also think putting too much focus on keyword optimization can be wrong.
