ComScore released a new study with Facebook today explaining “how social marketing works.” If that sounds to suspicious minds like the fox explaining how to guard the chickens, that’s because it pretty much is. However, the study does contain a huge amount of useful information for social marketers.

You’re more popular on Facebook

 

Social profiles on Facebook routinely get more attention than brands’ own websites. The example comScore gives is Skittles, which had 320,000 visitors to its Facebook page in March 2012, versus only 23,000 visitors to its corporate website. And that’s just visitors to the brand page; it does not count impressions of the company’s updates in fans’ news feeds.

Triberr is self described as a website for bloggers interested in increasing their reach. This reach is increased via tweets on Twitter. Triberr is so much more. It all starts at the top with Dino Dogan and Dan Cristo.

 

Dino is the entertaining and charismatic voice of Triberr, while Dan is more technical in nature coding away and continuously answering questions. These guys care. They care about you and your blog getting more exposure. They continue to work feverishly to provide a great environment and community. So, why aren’t you on Triberr???

I agree with Coca Cola about moving away for creative excellence to content excellence. They have developed their brand and established it well in the world. They are looking at ways to stay on top of other competitors; it is very smart of them to make sure their consumers are happy with the product and how they can connect with audiences. By creating the brand and establishing the brand does not mean long term profit or customer loyalty. It is how the business continues to market the brand that results in customer loyalty and profit. Coca Cola that identify this and made it their focus to create a strong customer loyalty with their audience; making sure the consumer shall never drift away from the brand and company.

As Internet marketing consultants, I’m sure we’d all agree SEO is a vital part of a successful marketing strategy. Online visibility is essential for both branding and conversions. But I think because we are passionate about what we do (and therefore, perhaps a bit biased,) we can lose sight of the fact that SEO and Internet marketing are not the only ingredients in our client’s marketing mix. Print advertising, radio and TV commercials, e-mail marketing, direct mail – for most businesses, these forms of marketing are still heavily used.

And really, in many cases, they should be. We might all like to think that online is the single best way to reach our client’s audience, but depending on their product or service, that might not always be the case. Have you seen those pre-written “tweet this” links and buttons that some websites use to make sharing a tweet much faster, and give additional control to the website that created it? I’m going to show you how to make a Pre-Formatted Re-Tweet Link or Button. When a user clicks on it they will be taken to their Twitter account with your message already filled in. All that is left for them to do is send the tweet! It’s useful in several situations, and isn’t the same as the stock Twitter Re-Tweet button.

 

Twitter is becoming known as the place to get news before it even becomes news. Getting news before everyone else has made it a premiere place to look for content, which by default has made it a premiere place to share content.
