Microsoft Stories: Best Brand Storytelling Site On The Web?
Business 2 Community
Hmm…strange for a corporate storytelling site, don't you think? Not if you're focused on one thing, and one thing only: Content.

This post by Arik Hanson is a review of Microsoft's website and the storytelling that is going on there. This is one company that's getting business storytelling right.

Why? Because Microsoft seems to be focusing more on sentiment than social signals. Now that's a change. I'm not sure if that's a good idea or not, but the quality of their storytelling is high. Maybe that's because they are more concerned about the quality of the story they are crafting than social media metrics. It seems logical the two are not mutually exclusive, but this seems to be Microsoft's strategy.

Enjoy the article and poking around the Microsoft site for examples of really good storytelling.

Web Music Service Engagement Rules
Imagine Spotify's engagement and time on site numbers. They must be staggering. Apparently every other digital Big Dog is imagining how they can create a web music service too says CNN.

Twitter announced and launched a "Trending" music service yesterday and this post outlines how each of the majors (except for Facebook strangely) all have plans to attack your ears.

Virus Finder Microsoft's ViralSearch For Twitter Looks Cool

Virus Finder Microsoft's ViralSearch For Twitter Looks Cool | AtDotCom Social media | Scoop.it

"One of the many undying questions from web publishers, marketers, and regular web users is "what makes something go viral?" which, coincidentally, is also something Microsoft is working on.

Today the company revealed a new research project called ViralSearch that uses a search engine to identify the most popular content on Twitter.

ViralSearch scans billions of pieces of information, including news, photos, and video, and assigns a virality rating to the most popular topics based on how the content was shared via Twitter".
