Kathleen McClaskey's curator insight, June 21, 2013 9:40 AM

Comments from THE Journal about this app that is considered one of the top 10 apps for special education:

"This app is a cross between an activity schedule and a video model. Like most activity schedule applications, it allows users to create checklists identifying the individual tasks required to accomplish a goal or objective. What sets Video Scheduler apart, however, is the option to include a still photo or video segment that demonstrates how each step in the task is completed. There is a wealth of research supporting the use of both activity schedules and video models with students on the autism spectrum and other students who may struggle with time and task management. Video Scheduler empowers students to work independently with little or no prompting from teachers or job coaches"

Small cost, highly valuable. Oral reading practice is becoming extinct in our schools.  Apps like this may help to revive the practice!-Lou

This is one of the most comprehensive apps I have ever used for students/ individuals with autism or any individual needing AAC or  life skills features that are built right into the app! Visual schedules and timers, customizable interactive scenes that are literally the rooms/ places that the student/ individual will be in daily, video modeling and sequencing, and communication; it's absolutely phenomenal! The Lite version is FREE and starts with an excellent step by step tutorial and allows you to experience much of what the app has to offer before deciding to purchase the full version. Well worth the price for students/ individuals who will benefit as it replaces so many other apps and having to use multiple apps.

Elizabeth Ralston's comment, July 27, 2013 2:07 PM
I'm going to look into this. I need a customizable app for higher level students.
