Developing the habit of saying thank you will allow you to ask more of you staff. In fact, it will ensue that you have to ASK less and get MORE. Teachers feel undervalued. If they know, by being thanked, that you value their work, much of your own work will be accomplished. When people know you value them, they are more willing to b e on your side, to do as you ask. It doesn't have to be a big project that gets recognized. Simple tasks can be appreciated. "Thank you for your comments at the faculty meeting." "Thanks for getting back to that parent, she was happy that you took the time."
