With social media ad revenues expected to grow to $11 billion dollars by the year 2017, social advertising has become a huge topic of interest amongst marketers. In fact, Facebook alone is expected to make close to $1 billion from its mobile ad revenue in 2013, according to the latest estimates.
Social media is fast becoming a bigger part of the ad buying efforts of brands and agencies across the globe, and for good reason. As Salesforce Marketing Cloud VP Peter Goodman notes, “Social ads reach the audience in which you’ve invested a lot of money and time into nurturing. You can see which audiences are engaging the most, so you can ensure that your ads are being bought correctly and you’re actually growing your fan base based on true data.”

As with all major IPO’s, we will read a lot of diverse and conflicting opinions on its valuation: to some Twitter will be an overpriced money-losing startup, to others it will be the next major player of the Web and undervalued. To add a data point to the debate, the Scoop.it team decided to study the value of social networks to small and mid-size businesses.
Naps can be tricky. The time of day, the length, the location, and your current sleep schedule all influence the effectiveness of the nap you take. According to the infographic, the best time to take a nap is between 1:00pm-4:00pm. For most, that time is right after lunch–when it’s time to get back to work–which makes getting a little extra sleep seem impossible.
With back to back classes, and work in between until 5:00pm, when could a nap be taken? Of the four nap time lengths, 10-20 minute naps are the only feasible option. The 10-20 minute nap boosts energy and alertness–so, napping for this amount of time could give you an extra push to get through the rest of the work day.
The other best option is taking a nap for a little over an hour. This nap will allow a full trip through both light and deep sleep and helps soothe you, so you wake up refreshed without that groggy feeling.
Sleep inertia is defined as the feeling of grogginess and disorientation that can come with awakening from a deep sleep. This is the reason why many avoid taking naps. Pushing through the day when tired is preferable to that groggy feeling after a nap.
We should all get into the habit of leaning back in a quiet place. Set an alarm that gives you just enough time to get a little shut eye. Wake up and hit the ground running. Practice makes perfect, even with naps.
Many people are concerned about online privacy. And, conversely, many more are not, freely sharing any and everything on their favorite social networks, paying little attention to their mobile app settings, and happily letting Google track each keyword that they search.

One of the most counterintuitive pieces of advice I found is that to make yourself feel happier, you should help others. In fact, 100 hours per year (or two hours per week) is the optimal time we should dedicate to helping others in order to enrich our lives.
7. Practice smiling – it can alleviate pain
Smiling itself can make us feel better, but it’s more effective when we back it up with positive thoughts.
8. Plan a trip – but don’t take one
As opposed to actually taking a holiday, it seems that planning a vacation or just a break from work can improve our happiness.

A 2012 SMB Group Study found that 20% of small businesses use social in an ad hoc, informal way- to generate leads and drive traffic to websites. The study also revealed that 24% of small businesses are using social in strategic and structured way, including data analysis of market trends and customer driven product ideas.
The businesses practicing strategic social media enjoyed a higher level of integration amongst their departments. The largest disparity between the two groups was uncovered in Customer Service. Only 8% of the companies with an informal social media environment had integrated into Customer Service, while an impressive 43% of the strategic social group integrated Customer Service.
