Another scenario 65% of doctors also recommended a prescription for a patient complaining of abdominal pain. If they would of asked more questions they would of found out that the patient was drinking coffee, smoking, taking asprin, drinking, and had a sufficient amount of emotional stress. The pharmecutical industry is to blame for the ridiculous amount of misused and abused drugs. They sell 216 billion dollars worth in the US each year. They spend 21 billion a year to promote drugs. they trick the consumer into buying drugs that are just as useful as the ones over the counter but have fancier names and more side effects. Some things can be done to stop this. One is to allow importation of drugs from Canada into the us and allow them to be sold. Or giving medicare the ability to bargain prices. This would save over 140 billion dollars over the next decade. Continue to keep a microscope under big pharmaceutical companies not allowing them to practice fraud. Over the past to decades they paid 30 billion dollars to settle disputes with federal and state governments.
