When selling to the customer became tougher and competition became stronger the sellers then started to look at it from the buyers standpoint. "They then came to realize that the key to success is understanding the needs of the customers"

In order to be successful, markers now realize that they can no longer focus on trying to get the customer to purchase more. They must have a well thought out idea of their customer and how to make their product appeal to the buyer. This is what will help the marketing industry become more successful.
Ali Maljan's comment, April 4, 2014 9:15 AM
For the company to be successful, you must benefit the company and individual. Whether you are trying to make money for a business or you are trying to just get people to come to an event you must have marketing in order for it to be successful. You must give them a reason to be interested.

The marketing industry consisted of only outbound marketing. This was yelling and talking to them to get their attention about the product that you are trying to sell. Since many companies produce the same product you must come up with a way that your product just sticks in people's head and then they will purchase it. The "USP" (Unique selling proposition) is what you must have to be successful. Which also leads to pricing and and positioning, if your price is too low this can affect you because you may be losing money, on the other hand having too high of a price may lead customers to buy the other product that has a cheaper price. Pricing is key in business when trying to sell your product.

The next thing that you want to think about if the distribution of your product. You must decide how you would like your customers to get their product. Even though it is not required of a business, something that keeps your customers coming to you and brings in new ones if having special offers. This could be offering free trials, money back guarenteed and different discount offers.

Marketing has been around since we can remember, however back then they did not actually call what they were doing marketing. We started to see marketing evolve during the industrial revolution. During this time period everything was starting to change and technology was up and coming making this even bigger. With all of the mass production the sellers needed to come up with a way that they could sell their product in a more efficient way.
Ali Maljan's comment, April 3, 2014 10:18 PM
During the industrial revolution items were very limited and tough to produce. People were try to sell anything that they could produce. They tried to focus on reducing the cost of distribution and having it at the lowest price possible.
Ali Maljan's comment, April 4, 2014 9:22 AM
At first the marketers only had an inward view, which just consisted of the product that was being sold. However they now trying to look at an outward view of it and tries to draw in an audience and have them get a better understanding of what is being sold. This will give you a better focus on the production and sales.
