A3 Cops are forty percent more obese then thirty two percent of those in the general population. Female cops have more problems to stress due to lack of sleep. Many cops are in an increased risk of getting brain cancer and Hodgkins Lymphoma over the course of thirty years of services.

A3 Many cops who talk about their issues may not be able to go back on the street or may not be able to get a promotions. In many cases cops gun could be taken away if one comes forward about an issue. Many reachers say to change up the way police training is to deal with stress.

The Pennsylvania State Police was created by an Act of the legislature which was signed into law by Governor Samuel W. Pennypacker on May 2, 1905. It was the first uniformed police organization of its kind in the United States. Today, the authorized complement of the Pennsylvania State Police is 4,545 sworn members. In addition, over 1,600 civilians serve in a variety of roles throughout the Department.

A2 Starting salary is $58,211 after graduation. Troopers get 10 vacation days. Troopers also get 15 calendar days.

A2 State Police training is 27 weeks long. You get paid at training, $ 1,212.80. Cadet are aloud to apply for three job options, but it is up to the department where they should be put at.

A3 Cops are put in a military style work place . Many cops have to deal with many stressful problems that they have never practiced before. Many cops miss the life of being a parent to a child due to all the stress of long shifts.

A3 Many cops have the feeling of having to much control at home due to the stress they have at work. Many cops have a fear of being isolated when they are not with another officer so they must talk with each other. Many cops see the worst in people which may have a lasting effect on cops who can't deal with it or may make them a better person.

A3 many cops out in the public are stressed out because of people thinking them as someone great. Many people think that police officers are a problem solver and that could put a big amount of stress on them. The isolation will stress a cop due to the long hours and not being able to see their family.

A3 The higher demand of being a cop can put a lot of stress on a cop. Cops also get more cardiovascular disease. The shift change has a increase in metabolic syndrome.

A3 The metabolic syndrome can lead to obesity and hypertension. Metabolic syndrome also put cops at risk of getting cardiovascular disease and type two diabetes. In a study more than 25 percent of police officers had metabolic syndrome compared to the 18 percent of the general population.

A3 Cops have a eight times higher suicide rate in the day to day cop compared to those who are retired or have left the force. Even though many police officers have health insurance many don't get better health due to the nature of being a cop. Those cops who do come to talk about their health may get a financial cut or lose of reputation.

A2 You will have training in calisthenics, weight training, fighting techniques, boxing, and defensive tactics. Cross country running is done to build up cardiovascular and cardiorespiratory. The distance for the cross country starts at about one mile to one and a half mile run.

A2 A cadet must be able to run a pace of eight and a half minutes per mile to complete training. Cadets must swim for five minutes non stop while doing the crawl stroke and the side stroke for more then fifty yards. Cadets must also jump into the deep end and swim four body lengths underwater, surface, and tread water for one minute.

A2 Cadets must live at the training facility. Meals are located at the lodging. Weekends may be off to the privilege cadets.

A2 You must be at least 20 years old on or before the application are completed. You must be 21 years old but not 40 years old when you go for your appointment for state police as a cadet. Cadets must live in Pennsylvania and have a valid driver licenses before graduation from the trooper academy.

A2 You must be a citizen of the U.S.A before you can apply to the state police. You must to show if you graduated from High School or obtained a GED. You also must have a Associate degree or 60 semesters credit hours from a good college or a good program.

A2 If you have four years of experience in law enforcement with the federal and or with Liquor enforcement officers, Corrections officers, Probation an Parole Officer, Game Commission you can have your 60 semester hour credits you need to apply waived. If you have four years in the military you can have your 60 semester hour credits waived. If you have at least two full years of military you can have 30 of the semesters credit hours waived but you need to go to school to get the other 30.
