In fact, immigration to the U.S.
Jessica Pottridge's insight:

Immigration to the United States has made America one of the most religiously diverse countries, with different faiths spread out all across the country. This is important because it shows how greatly affected our country is from all the people that immigrate here from other countries.

America is Experiencing a Surge in Undocumented Immigrants | uscitizenship | Asian Immigration to the U.S. and Canada | Scoop.it
There are more than 11.7 million undocumented immigrants living in America. Many believe that the reason for increased illegal immigration is the stronger US economy

Jessica Pottridge's insight:

This article is important, because it shows how badly some people want to get in our country. They will do anything they have to in order to cross the border and call themselves a citizen. Our government should be taking more actions in order to ensure less immigrants make it in illegally.

Marlee Morton's curator insight, October 2, 2013 11:23 AM

I though this was a good article because even though some immigrants come through legally millions don't. I thought this showed that even though we have secure boarders, doesn't mean that illegal immigrants can't get through.

Silicon Valley has seen a large wave of immigration, and now has one of the highest per-capita populations of foreign-born residents in the United States.
Jessica Pottridge's insight:

America is being shaped by the immigrants who move here from other countries in political, demographic, and cultural ways. I agree with the opinions in this article, the immigrants coming in gives us so much diversity.

I think it's great that America has such a diverse country. The different cultures all combined into one nation shows how people can create unity. Immigrants from all over the world have came to North America bringing new types of languages, culture, foods, and ect... We can understand much more with all the different cultures and immigrants.

Ann Coulter - April 24, 2013 - THE PROBLEM ISN'T JUST ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, IT'S LEGAL IMMIGRATION, TOO | Asian Immigration to the U.S. and Canada | Scoop.it

My thought is, maybe we should consider admitting immigrants who can succeed in America, rather than deadbeats.

But we're not allowed to "discriminate" in favor of immigrants who would be good for America. Instead of helping America, our immigration policies are designed to help other countries solve their internal problems by shipping their losers to us.

The problem isn't just illegal immigration. I would rather have doctors and engineers sneaking into the country than legally arriving ditch-diggers.

Should we be paying more attention to the Immagrants that come to America from other countries?.. This article is important, because it shows that we may not be making the best choices by allowing certain immigrants into our country.

I agree with you. Sometimes immigration is good and sometimes its bad. It seems like the media is always focused on the negative side of this than the positive, but is that because theres not a lot of positive things. I think that we should watch immigration more carefully and to protect the U.S

Jessica Pottridge's insight:

Asians drive immigration to the United States. This article is important, because it shows how much immigration effects the U.S. After people realize that immigrating to the U.S. was a great decision for another family, they decide that maybe it would be good for theirs too.

Asian Immigration in the U.S. has increased over the last few years. More Asian immigrants have come to the U.S. than Latino Immigrants. Some people are protesting over this.

Marlee Morton's curator insight, September 27, 2013 12:24 PM

This article shows how much the numbers of Asain immigration verses other races that come into the U.S. I found it interesting because I didn't know that the numbers were that large, and just how fast they grow.

The new Immigration bill that was passed would affect many immigrants and their families. Nathanel Lowe is talking to people and telling them about the new bill. He is trying to educate people that don't really know what it is about. I think it is good that he is doing this because the bill directly affects his family.

Many women immigrants protest about different issues with our policies on immigration in the United States. This is important, because we are generous enough to allow these immigrants into our country and to abide by our laws. They shouldn't have any reason to be fighting against us.

I think that this topic is very interesting. I do think that women from foreign countries should be involved in our society but they should be legal citizens. I agree that we are open enough to let them into our country and I think that if they want to live here they should gain proper citizenship and abide by the laws and standards that we have set for our country.
Grant Judkins's curator insight, October 3, 2013 10:27 AM

Many women went to Washington D.C. to protest immigration laws. They wanted laws that made it easier for immigrants to gain full citizenship and keep families together. About 200 women came to this event. Over 100 women were arrested.
