The Boxer Rebellion is a war that took place on Chinese soil over 100 years ago.  Back then, the Chinese government was incredibly weak. Western powers were able to establish concessions – pieces of land that functioned as colonies – all across China.

I had the privilege of taking part in a cultural tour of the Hyogo region of Japan in 2013 which included a day trip to Hiroshima. In many ways, visiting this incredible city and meeting some of its resilient, proud residents, was a personal highlight of the tour.
