Amazon launches Storyteller to turn scripts into storyboards -- automagically

Amazon launches Storyteller to turn scripts into storyboards -- automagically | Arts Independent | Scoop.it

Excerpt from review article by VentureBeat:
"Upload your script, choose some backgrounds, and magically created a professional-looking storyboard of your movie. Or the graphic novel version of your text-based anything.

Amazon Studios released Storyteller today to allow writers and filmmakers to quickly, easily — and cheaply — storyboard their scripts.

Roy Price, Amazon’s director of Studios said: “Storyteller provides a digital backlot, acting troupe, prop department, and assistant editor — everything you need to bring your story to life.”

You start by uploading a script to Amazon Studios — or by playing with one that’s already there. Then simply page through the script paragraph by paragraph. Storyteller will try to match up characters, props, and background with the words in each chunk of text, and it does a surprisingly good job.

But if you don’t like what Storyteller gives, you can choose from its library, or even upload your own custom background or characters. Currently, the software has a library of thousands of props, characters, and backgrounds..."

The iPad mini is a "good enough" production platform for many applications. Its rear-facing camera can take 5-megapixel photos and 1080p video recordings. It's not half bad at shooting video and taking pictures. It could serve students well as a shooting, editing and even a distribution device.

Remove Any Image Background and Create a Perfect Silhouette in Minutes: ClippingMagic

Remove Any Image Background and Create a Perfect Silhouette in Minutes: ClippingMagic | Arts Independent | Scoop.it
Stewart-Marshall's curator insight, June 9, 5:53 PM

Quite easy to use.  Some images are easier to clip than others, but this does a pretty good job of finding the outline for you.  You can then refine the results to get the final outline you want.

173 Sud's curator insight, June 9, 6:47 PM

Clipping Magic is a new web tool to easily remove the background from images. You upload your image, mark the image with the website’s red and green tools (red for background, and green for foreground), and voila! The areas marked red will be removed from the image and you can then download the edited image file. This is a great alternative to using Photoshop to remove a background, especially for removing image backgrounds on the fly.

Clipping Magic is currently free while the service is in alpha.

Ken Morrison's curator insight, June 10, 12:48 PM

New Camera Sensor Eliminates Need for Flash

New Camera Sensor Eliminates Need for Flash | Arts Independent | Scoop.it

No flash? No problem. A new imaging sensor could soon make it possible for photographers to take clear, sharp photos, even in dim lighting.

Created by a team of researchers at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore, the new sensor is highly sensitive to both visible and infrared light, which means it could be used in everything from the family Nikon to surveillance and satellite cameras.

The sensor, which is 1,000 times more sensitive to light than the imaging sensors of most of today's cameras, gets this high photoresponse from its innovative structure.

It's made of graphene, a super strong carbon compound with a honeycomb structure that is as flexible as rubber, more conductive than silicon and which resists heat better than a diamond.
