Actualité / Interdiction de ne pas toucher / étapes: design & culture visuelle | Arts and Culture for kids | Scoop.it

Multi-Touch Gestures Project - Royal College of Art

Multi-Touch Gestures Project - Royal College of Art | Arts and Culture for kids | Scoop.it

The 4 I's of Storytelling: a Framework for the Futur - Latitude - The Future of Storytelling

The 4 I's of Storytelling is a framework Latitude created by analyzing themes present in the next-gen storytelling concepts imagined by Phase 1 study participants. It represents not only a desire to delve deeper into stories, but also to bring stories out of the screen—both literally and figuratively—to mingle with our actual lives.

Immersion

Can I go deeper into the story-world, by learning more about it or by heightening my sensory experience of it?

Interactivity

Can I change or influence elements of the story?

Can I interact with other people around the story?

Integration;
Is a cohesive story being told across platforms?

Can it interface with the real world in any way?

Impact:
Does the story inspire me to take action in my own life, such as making a purchase or supporting a good cause?

What Kids Are Reading, In School And Out : NPR

What Kids Are Reading, In School And Out : NPR | Arts and Culture for kids | Scoop.it
Some experts are concerned that both in-school assignments and the books kids read for pleasure may not be challenging them enough.

(...)  in the '60s and '70s, schools began introducing more accessible books in order to motivate kids to read. That trend has continued, and the result is that kids get stuck at a low level of reading." - Sandra Stotsky. Professor emerita of education at the University of Arkansas

Who Invented Children's Literature?

Who Invented Children's Literature? | Arts and Culture for kids | Scoop.it
Kids still read Andersen's oeuvre, but very few pre-Andersen children's stories remain popular. What did children read before the era of Hans Christian Andersen?
@CotCotCotApps's insight:

Scholars argue over when children's literature—that is, books written exclusively for and read exclusively by children—came into existence. But it's largely a debate over definitions. Even in ancient times, certain types of stories were considered appropriate for children. Archaeologists have unearthed a children's version of the labors of Hercules from the third century written in simple language with large, spaced-out text and color pictures of the lions and the mythical hero.
