Artist Initiative Grants This program supports and assists artists at various stages in their careers. It encourages artistic development, nurtures artistic creativity, and recognizes the contributions individual artists make to the creative environment of the state of Minnesota. Grants will be awarded for career building and for the creative development of artists. Some artists may choose to request funds to create new work, but that isn't a requirement of the program. Artists working in all artistic disciplines—dance, media arts, music, photography, poetry, prose, theater, and two- and three-dimensional visual arts—may apply. FY 2017 Application Deadlines Literary arts; poetry and prose: 4:30 p.m., Friday, June 10, 2016 Performing arts; dance, music, and theater: 4:30 p.m., Friday, June 10, 2016 Visual arts; media arts, photography, and visual arts: 4:30 p.m., Friday, August 5, 2016 The Arts Board will only accept applications that are submitted and accepted by the online WebGrants system before the 4:30 p.m. deadline. Who Can Apply An applicant is eligible to apply for an Artist Initiative grant if the individual is: A professional artist applying as an individual; At least 18 years of age; A current Minnesota resident for a minimum of six months who will remain a resident throughout the contract period; A U.S. citizen, or individual who has attained permanent resident status. An applicant may submit only one Artist Initiative grant proposal per fiscal year. Grant Range $2,000–$10,000 Application Method All applicants are required to use the WebGrants system to apply, and will submit all materials electronically. Registration is required of all applicants before beginning an application to any Arts Board program. It is only necessary to register once. Job Description:   The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum is seeking a Project Manager to support the realization of two Social Practice art projects in New York City. As an integral role on the project implementation team, the Project Manager will work closely with artists, the Education / Curatorial / Exhibition Management Teams, the museum staff, and the community-based collaborators to support the research, development, and implementation of all aspects of the projects. The Project Manager will also be responsible for contracting with vendors and fabricators, managing logistics related to the collaborating venue sites such as permitting, insurance, security, and maintenance, assisting with project financials, and liaising between fabricators, project partners, and artists to execute projects on time and on budget. This position is currently expected to last approximately 18 months. The ideal candidate has experience in community engagement and working with Social Practice Artists, is a self-starter who can also work collaboratively and diplomatically, is extremely organized, and has exceptional project management, creative problem solving, and interpersonal skills. Additionally, s/he will need to be a good listener and bring a sense of control and calm internally throughout the Museum while managing off-site projects that are often complex, unconventional, and multi-faceted.
