Job Description: The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum is seeking a Project Manager to support the realization of two Social Practice art projects in New York City. As an integral role on the project implementation team, the Project Manager will work closely with artists, the Education / Curatorial / Exhibition Management Teams, the museum staff, and the community-based collaborators to support the research, development, and implementation of all aspects of the projects. The Project Manager will also be responsible for contracting with vendors and fabricators, managing logistics related to the collaborating venue sites such as permitting, insurance, security, and maintenance, assisting with project financials, and liaising between fabricators, project partners, and artists to execute projects on time and on budget. This position is currently expected to last approximately 18 months. The ideal candidate has experience in community engagement and working with Social Practice Artists, is a self-starter who can also work collaboratively and diplomatically, is extremely organized, and has exceptional project management, creative problem solving, and interpersonal skills. Additionally, s/he will need to be a good listener and bring a sense of control and calm internally throughout the Museum while managing off-site projects that are often complex, unconventional, and multi-faceted.
