Samantha O'Sullivan's insight:

This article is an excellent representation of how AI has changed over the last 15 years, and towards the next 15 years this includes interactive things such as the touch screen being added followed by Siri and Microsoft's version. Essentially making things as such at the touch of the fingers. The article goes into detail how far AI has come although there is so much to progress, such as grasping a hold of each individual user. Watson uses statistical methods to “understand” language, allowing researchers to do a smart lit search quickly.  Apple, Google, and Nuance are also working on language understanding.

Samantha O'Sullivan's insight:

This article gives the reader a brief overview of how fast technology has increased in since the 70's.  This article also explains that human resources is expected to get considerably lowered with the advent of artificial intelligence. This is because humans will only needed to be used as back ups (or in manager positions.) This article explains how jobs in a call centre can be taken over for three major reasons.
1. Low cost of communications

2. Easy to understand

3. Virtual Communicators.

4. Little to no cost (ect staff)

5. Stops blocking the ACD.

Samantha O'Sullivan's insight:

This article explains in full detail the way that robots have a lot of strength over future artificial intelligence. This includes the way machines and robots have developed since the 1960's, including the naturally generalised intelligence that has over 40 years has started becoming artificial intelligence.

Samantha O'Sullivan's insight:

As Ashton Kutcher invests $40 million dollars into an artificial intelligence system with Mark Zuckerberg we can see the rate of AI booming in the next 5 years. The plan is to invent some aspects of artificial intelligence into more every day tasks... This includes face recognition, robots being invested into the artificial intelligence along side Intel: chips embedded in our brains by 2020 .  The firm hopes to build a system capable of replacing the function of the neocortex including face recognition, movement, language and does math, than embedding these into a fully functioning robot.

One day soon Siri will know exactly what you want and when - Artificial intelligence was... http://t.co/HErrikKagL #Technology
Samantha O'Sullivan's insight:

This article explains how artificial intelligence was meant to make our lives as humans a lot easier, although believes we are not at that point yet. This article specifies how far artificial intelligence has already come from Siri's two-year-beta test to now by giving examples such as the way twitter is embedded into Siri's functions. "From a computer science perspective, learning the behaviour of a single user is tough. This is the small data problem; unlike big data, where patterns and trends easily emerge, individual human beings can be unpredictable and can change behaviour, which is not helpful for pattern-hunting algorithms." This paragraph emphasis how much errors and work there is still to overcome in the programming of artificial intelligence; from the small problems all the way through to the major problems.

This video goes over how the things that Siri can do are traits of an artifical intelligence. This is because she has picked up human interactions and traits of the user and does what the user has told her to do in a specific way.

Samantha O'Sullivan's insight:

This video shows how robots and other artificial intelligences have developed over the years from going through how they worked in 1991 through to now. This presentation shows huge changes in how powerful technology has become. For example in 1991-1993 robots were being used in space in missions such as the mars rover & in the military to deploy bombs. This presentation estimates by 2070 their will no longer be jobs for humans as robots will take over everything. In the next 5-10 years jobs such as bus drivers, taxi drivers, train drivers ect WILL be faded out because artificial intelligences will take over; as these are counted as "simplistic" jobs. Further in the presentation jobs of doctors included become faded out even though this occupation is regarded highly among us now.

Google has already created a car using artificial intelligent car, which guided itself across America what is next for google and artificial intelligence.  By 2020 Google estimates to have numerous break throughs in different areas including health & medicine. By 2025 Google is expecting to have  artificially intelligent personal assistants, perhaps even in holographic forms in some sort of augmented reality.

IBM wants software developers to create apps around Watson: How will it stack ...
Samantha O'Sullivan's insight:

This emphasis the new development of up rising technology including the new artificial intelligence to be created "WATSON". What is Watson? "Watson is an artificial intelligence system from IBM, and the company is now planning to allow software developers to create applications based on Watson." Watson is still being beta tested in different areas, to extend the different needs of each person and their traits including health care, banking and retail industries and in these areas the  testing shows positive results, and is showing results to be more powerful than any other artificial intelligence on the line when released. There is no release date for Watson to be commercialised to the Australian market any time in the next 3-5 years. Watson holds a very interesting future for artificial intelligence.

We're already giving voice instructions to virtual personal assistants, like Apple's Siri. But artificial intelligence is getting even smarter.
Samantha O'Sullivan's insight:

The future of anticipatory computing explained in this article that computers are already understand what humans want before we know what we want. This article shows detailed information on how the anticipatory computing is clearing up the unknown at the touch of a button or voice command. The author explains that as we progress so do the machines as we learn so do they...  As saying so they learn our behaviours and how we do certain things. Anticipatory Computing will be built so well that we has humans will wonder how we ever lived without it...
