Nicole Sorensen's insight:

One of the newest machines to receive recognition for it's robot prototype which is education friendly, affordable and has the ability to allow students to use an interactive tool within their school environment. I think this concept is just the beginning of such agents to be implemented within a learning and tutorial environment to help people learn and gain inspiration. The fact that the robot doesn't cost more than 20 dollars would be an added incentive for schools as it would allow most students access to their own and they would all have the same opportunities.

Nicole Sorensen's insight:

A stimulating and thought-provoking video which raises the idea that it is unethical to not develop AI. It discusses that AI is a fundamental part of the future and it would be unethical to not continue developing and researching the progress of Artificial Intelligence.

This video raises many ideas and discusses many frequently asked questions that people may have. It also has its own unique prediction that artificial intelligence is going to take us in the next years to come. One very interesting point that brings up is will it save us money or make us spend more money on the items we need.

Nicole Sorensen's insight:

An interesting source in which Dr Stuart Armstrong states that there is a serious threat of computers replacing humans at their jobs. I have and still continue to see this as an issue that eventually AI will progress to such a level that humans are not needed to do particular jobs anymore which would create a huge damage to the working industry. However Dr Shanahan, while concerned reminds us that even when new technology was developed in the past, jobs were lost, but jobs were also created and the status quo was not heavily impacted.

Nicole Sorensen's insight:

An interesting insight into one mass industry investing into a global technology which is due to become a massive trend within the near future. Google chief engineer Ray Kurzweil envisions an agent with the ability to communicate and understand multi-faceted questions and language to be created within the next 2 decades. On the contrary, Tim Baldwin a professor at the University of Melbourne acknowledges there have been substantial developments within AI but 'digital consciousness is still a long way off'. In this case I tend to agree with Tim Baldwin, while there has been definite advances and improvements within this sector of technology, there is still a long and arduous way to go before an agent with deep thinking and communication will be developed and implemented into society.

Joscha Bach, an AI researcher with a PHD in cognitive science poses 5 important questions about AI-

Why should we build AI?

How can we build AI?

When is AI going to succeed (if ever)?

What are the ingredients for AI?

When should you start?

Joscha also raises an interesting point of the place of philosophy within AI research and creation.

Nicole Sorensen's insight:

One example of how AI is being used within the military and how assistance through a virtual character which can process and return information has the ability to do what would normally be a humans job. While this chatbot only ascertains to one particular subject (the army) it demonstrates the velocity of which virtual agents can consume and distribute material while also aiding people fast.
