10 Great Ideas for Valuable Curated Content

10 Great Ideas for Valuable Curated Content | Art galleries | Scoop.it

Curated content, or content aggregated from various sources into one comprehensive resource (be it a blog post, an ebook, a presentation, etc.) can be a valuable part of any marketer's content mix. That said, the process of actually curating it isn't easy.

There's a misconception among marketers that curated content is lazy and unoriginal, but we think it's the complete opposite. It takes time and careful evaluation to create quality curated content, and the result is oftentimes a very valuable piece of content that helps people seeking information on a given topic to cut through the clutter on the web and save time. After all, what's better than one awesome resource? How about 15 awesome resources? All accessible in one place! There's a reason art galleries are so popular.

So how can you take advantage of the power of curated content? Here are our top 10 ideas for great curated content.

Halle am Wasser Art Centre: a self-sufficient urban complex in Berlin

Halle am Wasser Art Centre: a self-sufficient urban complex in Berlin | Art galleries | Scoop.it

The new Arts Centre "Halle am Wasser" by the Berlin and London based practice Pott Architects is part of a self-sufficient urban accommodation complex featuring an Arts Campus, Marina, flats, offices and restaurants.

A key element of the development of the whole area was the transformation of an old derelict warehouse into an extensive art gallery, a cultural hub for the whole district. The art forum takes the shape of a folded sculptural element, with a membrane streching across the outside of the existing building, transforming it into a home for all forms of art with 6 main galleries varying in size. The canopy covering allows natural light inside and significantly improves the appearance of the warehouse. The steel skeleton of the building is successfully adapted to accommodate the flexible open-plan gallery spaces that can be easily adjusted according to the requirements of the artists...

Self Sufficient os a good approach, even if i think future buildings are not mandatory auto sufficient. But shall they have this approach with an index and ataxes compensation in large means, we will give a hugh step towards sustainability.

Glam! The Performance of Style | Tate

Glam! The Performance of Style | Tate | Art galleries | Scoop.it

Tate Liverpool: Exhibition 8 February – 12 May 2013

Glam, a visually extravagant pop style exploded across Britain during the years 1971–5. The exciting, futuristic sounds, extravagant fashions and glitter-dappled personas emerging in this era had their roots firmly in British art schools.

Glam! The Performance of Style is the first exhibition to explore glam style and sensibility in-depth. The exhibition investigates artistic developments in Britain Europe and North America through the prism of glam, examining painting, sculpture, installation art, film, photography and performance.

Bringing together more than 100 artworks the exhibition will reveal the genealogy of glam. Themes of glamour, camp, exaggerated identity, androgyny, eroticism and dandyism will be explored in the work of David Hockney, Andy Warhol, Cindy Sherman, Allen Jones, Richard Hamilton, Peter Hujar and many more.

The Masai Typology | Travel photographer: Nicolas Lotsos

The Masai Typology | Travel photographer: Nicolas Lotsos | Art galleries | Scoop.it
The Masai Typology is one of the many gorgeous photo galleries of Africa by photographer Nicolas Lotsos. I'm not much of an African wildlife aficionado, but his fine art galleries of photographs of the handsome Masai, of Zanzibar, or of the African slums and townships are lovely exemplars of monochromatic imagery. Nicolas Lotsos is  a fine art photographer (and in my view, a travel photographer as well) and a basketball agent. He co-runs a sports agency representing some of the top sports figures in Europe. He has been a photographer since he was 16 years old, and specializes in photographs of wild life and nature.

He also won an impressive number of awards, to include Gold Winner at the 2012 Grand Prix de la Photographie, Outstanding Achievement at the Spider Award 2012, the 2012 Veolia Wildlife Photographer Award, including two awards by the Travel Photographer Of The Year (TPOTY), amongst others.

A Nilotic group in East Africa, next to the Indian Ocean, the Masai society is patriarchal, and elder men decide most major matters for each group. A full body of oral law covers many aspects of behaviour. The Masai are monotheistic, worshipping a single deity.

5 Fantastic Art Collections for Students to Explore Online | Art galleries | Scoop.it
A great set of resources to enable students to discover wonderful works of art online from galleries, art collections and museums around the world.

Explore great art sites geared to a wide range of ages. Tate Britain if geared to younger students. Guggenheim proposes $178 mln museum in Helsinki - ikonotv

Guggenheim proposes $178 mln museum in Helsinki - ikonotv | Art galleries | Scoop.it

The Guggenheim wants to build a 140 million euro museum on the Helsinki waterfront as it expands its satellite of contemporary art galleries to new locations such as Bilbao in Spain and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, which oversees the original, Frank Lloyd Wright-designed museum in New York as well as four overseas sites, proposed that it and the Finnish capital jointly develop a new museum.

The Guggenheim chose Helsinki due to strong local interest and tradition in art and design, as well as the city’s plans to develop its harbour properties, it said in a report on Tuesday after a year-long feasibility study.

The Fine Art of Being a Curator

Over the last decade, as the contemporary art world has grown to planetary size — more galleries, more fairs, more art-selling Web sites, bigger museums, new biennials almost by the month — it has sometimes seemed as if a new kind of cultural figure has been born as well: the international curator, constantly in flight to somewhere.
