Glowing Jellyfish Tank in Abandoned Building Surprises Liverpool Residents

Glowing Jellyfish Tank in Abandoned Building Surprises Liverpool Residents | Art for art's sake... | Scoop.it
Artist team Walter Hugo & Zoniel recently surprised the city of Toxteth, Liverpool by installing this massive psychedelic aquarium tank behind a shutter in an old, abandoned building. Every night at 10pm, the shutter is raised and passing pedestrians are greeted with a large, glowing sea of jellyfish in quite the unexpected location!
The piece, entitled The Physical Possibility Of Inspiring Imagination In The Mind Of Somebody Living, was developed with the support of the Gazelli Art House in London and as part of the Liverpool Biennial. The artists did not announce the magical piece to any press but, rather, they simply revealed the project anonymously on the evening of June 26, 2014. Her stunningly surreal images of otherworldly landscapes have a painterly feel to them but they haven't been created with even a drop of paint. Instead, the 22-year-old artist takes hundreds of microscopic images and stacks them on top of each other until she creates her beautifully surreal scenes.
As she tells us, "I consider myself to be an image maker and collector, as I have been using the microscope to capture the building blocks for the imaginary worlds I generate. This not only adds to my alteration of space but, I use the microscopic world as it seems alien to most of us.
"The images I collect from the microscope are merely jumping-off points, individual components, for use in a later constructed image similar to that of a painter or illustrator. Often a single work will contain hundreds of images. Although these are not paintings, these images contain some appearance of painterly brushwork and…

Artist Recreates His Own Childhood Drawings 20+ Years Later... | Art for art's sake... | Scoop.it
Some time ago we wrote about Vancouver-based artist Wendy Tsao, who turns children’s drawings into toys. Telmo Pieper, a Dutch muralist, does a very similar thing: with the help of Photoshop, he digitally recreates his old drawings into realistic versions of his childhood imagination. The Kiddie Arts series features some of the weirdest-looking animals - a shoe-shaped whale, a snail with world's smallest shell, and an alien looking fly – a great collection of typical boy-ish drawings.
