‘Arrow’ Season 5 Villain Linked To Someone Oliver Hurt In Season 1

‘Arrow’ Season 5 Villain Linked To Someone Oliver Hurt In Season 1 | ARROWTV | Scoop.it
Many thought the major villain of Arrow Season 5 would be a Star City crime boss named Anton Church, but longtime Arrow fans had a hunch it had to be someone even badder. Now showrunner Wendy Mericle has confirmed speculation about the identity of the Green Arrow’s next adversary.

If Mericle's statements are any indication, the villain could potentially be someone we’ve met previously. She recently spoke with TV Guide magazine for a special San Diego Comic-Con issue and revealed this big bad has one goal: revenge. The villain is “somebody Oliver unwittingly created in Season 1 when he was a killer in a hood… this guy is going to be collateral damage who lost someone to the hood and has spent the last several years training and plotting for revenge. He will be a true dark mirror to Oliver Queen,” Mericle said.

Arrow Season 5: Stephen Amell Says Villain is a ‘Callback’ to Season 1

Arrow Season 5: Stephen Amell Says Villain is a ‘Callback’ to Season 1 | ARROWTV | Scoop.it
Some TV shows that have struggled in recent years, or maybe didn’t deliver according to expectations set by their earlier successes have a couple of options when considering what to do next. One of the more popular has been that of the soft reboot, a restructuring of the series in an attempt to work out certain kinks or just make as close to a fresh start as possible. The other option is to make a concerted effort to return to the show’s roots and to rediscover what made it so successful in the first place. The latter seems to be what Arrow has in mind for season 5In all the press that’s been handled by the cast and crew of Arrow since the season 4 finale, one eventuality that has come up several times over is the idea of doing what the show does best.

Idris Elba’s The Wire character Stringer Bell is reportedly the inspiration for Arrow season 5’s big bad...Here’s an interesting one. Moving away from the magical mayhem of season 4, it sounds like the Arrow producers are looking to the take the show back to its gritty street-level vigilantism roots. To pull this off, they’re apparently taking inspiration from HBO’s iconic crime drama The Wire.TV Line reports that Arrow’s season 5 big bad will be a chap named Anton Church, a brand new character who is believed to be ‘loosely inspired’ by Idris Elba’s The Wire drug lord Stringer Bell.Read more: http://www.denofgeek.com/uk/tv/arrow/41195/arrow-season-5-new-villain-reportedly-inspired-by-the-wire#ixzz4Ar8mY7NT

Arrow begins its endgame by pondering a hero’s morality

Arrow begins its endgame by pondering a hero’s morality | ARROWTV | Scoop.it
Let’s begin by giving credit to David Ramsey. In the midst of an all-time insane Arrow episode—Damien Dahrk going on the warpath! Oliver and Felicity meeting an immortal shaman! Thea getting sent to The Twilight Zone!—Ramsey manages to refocus our attention on what actually happened to John Diggle. The man, for just about the most understandable possible reasons, just killed his brother in something very close to cold blood. Andy left him no alternatives, making it clear John and his family would never be safe so long as Andy and H.I.V.E. were at large, and Andy did all he could to goad his brother into pulling that trigger. But still, there probably isn’t any coming back from this, at least not entirely.

‘Arrow’ Season 4 Spoilers: David Ramsey Hints At ‘Vengeful’ Diggle In ‘Canary Cry’

‘Arrow’ Season 4 Spoilers: David Ramsey Hints At ‘Vengeful’ Diggle In ‘Canary Cry’ | ARROWTV | Scoop.it
"Arrow" star David Ramsey, who plays John Diggle, recently sat down to discuss episode 19 and he hinted that the death of Dinah Laurel Lance is going to send his character into an emotional tailspin.Comic Book reported that the CW released the official synopsis for episode 19, which is titled "Canary Cry."The episode is going to revolve around Oliver and the team struggling to come to terms with Laurel's death.Diggle is also struggling with feelings of guilt because he refused to believe that his brother Andy was evil and that led to his friend dying.Meanwhile, Quentin Lance refuses to believe that Laurel's dead and asks Nyssa al Ghul to bring her back. A recent Black Canary sighting in Star City appeared to prove his theory that Laurel is still alive; although there is a good chance that it is an imposter.Ramsey told Access Hollywood that Team Arrow is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and Diggle blamed himself for Laurel's death, since he was blind to the fact that his brother Andy had not changed."Post-traumatic stress disorder has happened to the whole team after Laurel's death," he explained. "He's no exception and so we're seeing a Diggle that we've never seen before. What happened to his brother sent him on an emotional tailspin."

Arrow Season 5 Premiere To Reveal Black Canary's Final Words

Arrow Season 5 Premiere To Reveal Black Canary's Final Words | ARROWTV | Scoop.it
Team Arrow is at a bit of a crossroads leading into season five. There was enough death to go around in season four, and it's affected the team significantly.

Now it's about picking up the pieces, but fans can still expect the death of Katie Cassidy's Black Canary to play a big part in the character arcs throughout the new season. That said, there is still one big mystery surrounding the fallen hero that needs explaining, and that is what she told Oliver right before she died.

Arrow's Executive Producer Wendy Mericle recently spoke to TV Guide (via SpoilerTV) about the upcoming season, and addressed those final words directly.

"We're as curious as you are, but the good news is, the wait is almost over. According to Mericle, the late Black Canary's last words will be revealed in the season premiere."

Kevin Smith Knows How Onomatopoeia Could Work on 'Arrow'

Kevin Smith Knows How Onomatopoeia Could Work on 'Arrow' | ARROWTV | Scoop.it
Ever since he directed an acclaimed episode of The Flash‘s second season, Kevin Smith has been very public about how much he wants to follow that up by writing an episode of The Flash‘s sister show Arrow. He knows just what villain would feature in that episode, too.Back in 2002, the Clerks director was writing Green Arrow comics and created a new villain for the Emerald Archer to face — Onomatopoeia. As the name suggests, this supervillain’s gimmick was that he would enunciate the sound of the crime he had committed. For instance, if he blew something up, he would say ‘boom’. The character isn’t one who would naturally work off the page, but Smith knows just how he could adapt him.Speaking to Den of Geek, Smith explained his new idea for Onomatopoeia:“I’ve figured out a way to do it that is kinda bad-ass, and also connects to comics more or less. So instead of just doing the actual sound – which to me, in the real world, would be like the dude from Police Academy making noises with his mouth – he’ll just have little cards. Business cards that have typewritten words of whatever the fuck. So instead of him saying ‘blam’, you’d find this card on your desk and turn around and ‘blam’, he’d shoot you and stuff like that. Which I think is a little more chilly, you know, for doing it in live action. “

How Willa Holland Feels About Arrow's Suicide Squad Being Taken Away

How Willa Holland Feels About Arrow's Suicide Squad Being Taken Away | ARROWTV | Scoop.it
Back in Arrow Season 2, the show introduced the Suicide Squad, the infamous group of incarcerated bad guys who are sent on dangerous missions by the government in exchange for leniency. It looked like the team had a bright future ahead of them on the series, but months later, the Suicide Squad movie was announced for the DC Extended Universe. Since then, Arrow’s Suicide Squad has been phased out, and Willa Holland, a.k.a. Thea Queen, isn’t pleased about how this all went down. This past weekend at MCM London Comic-Con (via Mirror), Holland explained how the Suicide Squad was intended to have a recurring role on Arrow, and the DCEU developments ruined those plans. She explained:We were about season two when they started telling us we had to start basically killing off the Suicide Squad that we were starting to build on our own. We were actually trying to build that on our own on the show, and I guess once DC found out they were going to be doing their own movie of it, we had to ax all of the characters before we even got to show them, which was a little annoying at first.
webgurl's insight:
I'm with Willa. I'm excited to see the Suicide Squad movie, but disappointed that Arrow was forced to kill of Suicide Squad members and Amanda Waller for it.

Synopses For Season Finales of The Flash, Gotham and Arrow

Synopses For Season Finales of The Flash, Gotham and Arrow | ARROWTV | Scoop.it
Well we appear to have a sudden barrage of season finale synopses of all the DC shows currently on air.Arrow"Oliver (Stephen Amell) teams up with a surprising force in an attempt to stop Damien Darhk (guest star Neal McDonough) and his magic once and for all."Now that is cause for hype. Who is the ‘surprising’ force? I wouldn’t count on a past ally like The Flash, Vixen or Constantine to be the surprising force. It’s someone who’s supposed to be an enemy. Biggest guest here: Malcolm Merlyn. Obviously, Darhk did something to piss him off and now he’s all #TeamArrow. Do remember that Thea’s trapped in that underground prison with Darhk’s henchmen. He could certainly do much to piss off Malcolm. The episode titled “Schism” airs on May 24.

‘Arrow’: Laurel’s death causes Diggle to ‘crumble like a trainwreck’ | ARROWTV | Scoop.it
The death of Laurel has shaken the team to their very core on “Arrow,” but seemingly none is reacting as harshly to her demise as Diggle (David Ramsey). The trailer for the April 27 episode, “Canary Cry,” shows the man who is usually the moral center of Team Arrow going rogue in an effort to track down his own brother and Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough).“Diggle takes this very personally. Clearly it was because of Andy’s betrayal, among other things,” Ramsey tells Zap2it. “That was a huge piece of this catastrophic puzzle that led to Laurel’s death.”There’s a piece of Diggle that feels personally responsible for the death and it’s causing him to lash out.
