My experience with Axiris IV-3 shield for Arduino

My experience with Axiris IV-3 shield for Arduino | Arduino, Netduino, Rasperry Pi! | Scoop.it
I recently bought on ebay the PCB for this open source VFD shield, designed and made by Axiris, a company in Belgium. I was attracted by the solid documentation provided on their site, which includes the schematics (even Eagle files), assembly instructions, demo software, files for laser-cutting the enclosure. I should also mention the professional photos, rivaling those of the top sites (e.g. adafruit, sparkfun).

Tor's blog – My Jeenode monitoring kit

Tor's blog – My Jeenode monitoring kit | Arduino, Netduino, Rasperry Pi! | Scoop.it

This is the display of my Jeenode wireless monitoring kit. It’s actually a Raspberry Pi with a piTFT display mounted on top of it.

The Raspberry Pi is directly connected to a Jeenode “serial port” – where the Jeenodes are running Demo sketches. In other words what you are seeing is the payload of the wireless packets being transmitted from the various Jeenodes around the house. If you look at the payload in the picture the ID of each Jeenode is the first set of digits after the “OK”.

MWC: Intel Edison drives voice-activated motorcycle helmet and smartphone ... - Inquirer | Arduino, Netduino, Rasperry Pi! | Scoop.it

One that stood out at the Intel booth was a motorcycle helmet with built-in brake and indicator lights on the back that worked in time with a connected BMW motorbike.

A microphone inside the helmet also allowed riders to search the web and Google Maps using voice commands, without needing to be connected to the internet as the information is stored on the Edison chip.

Arduino Zero Pro Released Amid Legal Dispute - iProgrammer

Arduino Zero Pro Released Amid Legal Dispute - iProgrammer | Arduino, Netduino, Rasperry Pi! | Scoop.it

There are now two websites using the distinctive Arduino logo and style. This reflects a split among the original founders and has resulted in a dispute that has gone to court. Meanwhile a version of the Arduino Zero has gone on sale.

You can currently buy the Zero Pro from the website Arduino.org - a name that makes it sound as if it was the "official" Arduino site. It is not however the original site - which is Arduino.cc - and which displays the Arduino Zero on its product list as "Coming Soon".

Chapter 13: Real-Time BeagleBone Interfacing

Chapter 13: Real-Time BeagleBone Interfacing | Arduino, Netduino, Rasperry Pi! | Scoop.it

The MCP3008 can be used to sample up to 100kSps at 3.3V. For higher sampling rates there are alternative SPI ADC solutions available. Unfortunately, many are only available in surface-mount packages.

The ADS7883 (see the datasheet) is one such example. It is a 12-bit ADC that is capable of sampling at rates of up to 2MSps at 3.3V. Unfortunately it is only available in a 6-pin SOT23 package, which is a very small package for manual soldering. SOT to DIP form (0.1″) adapter boards are available, but even at that, it is a very small format IC. The ADS7883 is capable of sampling at 2MSps but the configuration that is presented in this discussion can only drive this IC at just over 1MSps approximately, as the software-controlled serial data clock frequency is approaching the limit of what is possible to generate using the PRU-ICSS.
