Controlling fan or motor speed with PWM

Controlling fan or motor speed with PWM | Arduino Focus | Scoop.it
On the first part, I talk about switching any 12V DC or higher electronic components ON or OFF. This can be easily done using an optoisolator and a 12V reed relay.

Controlling a 12V DC motor/fan with an Arduino

Controlling a 12V DC motor/fan with an Arduino | Arduino Focus | Scoop.it
Most of the Arduino runs on 5V and driving low power actuators like LED is fine with a  resistor but how do I control relays / motors / pump / fans that runs more than 5V ?
I get a lot of beginner questions like below :-

Stepper Motor Project

Stepper Motor Project | Arduino Focus | Scoop.it
Since I'm waiting for some more parts to come in for my water level sensor I'm building for our aquaponics project, I thought I'd work on a stepper motor controller.

We use these controllers at work, and I wanted to get more experience with them.
