Monaco-born artist Michel Blazy creates sculptures and installations out of everyday objects, often delivering an entertaining discourse on the brevity of life and fragile beauty.  The artist’s latest installation, entitled “Bouquet Final”, has found a home in the medieval monastery College des Bernardins in Paris, filling the austere surroundings with flowing quantities of ever-growing foam masses. Blazy’s use of foam explores the inherent ephemeral qualities of the substance, a stark contrast to the hard stone architecture of the space.

The Architectural Ellipsis at Centro Cultural Universitario Tlatelolco in Mexico City is a project by Ruth Estévez and Javier Toscano. It “explores the possibility of thinking through the consequences of an architectural reason that wants to go beyond both the ordering subjectivity of its creators, producers and critics, and the entire sphere of discourse that constitutes it.“ (excerpt from the exhibition text). The artists participating are Esteban Azuela, Tania Candiani, Jordi Colomer, Democracia, Jimmie Durham, Larissa Fassler, Luca Frei, León Ferrari, Enrique Ježik, José Jiménez Ortiz, Mark Manders, Matt Mullican, Erik Olofsen, Clarisa Tossin and Anri Sala. The exhibition runs until June 16, 2013.

Today the Nederlandse Tuinbouwraad (NTR) announced the city of Almere as the location for theFloriade 2022 horticultural expo in the Netherlands. In preparation for the upcoming expo, the city will transform itself into green garden paradise according to plans designed by MVRDV. The expo site will be created as a permanent extension of the city center that will be rooted in sustainability and ecology - MVRDV and Almere promise that Floriade 2022 will be 300% greener than any other expo.

Zaha Hadid is one of the world’s most popular architects and designers. The Iraqi-British architect created landmark buildings such as the Phaeno Science Center in Wolfsburg, Germany; the Bergisel Ski Jump in Innsbruck, Austria; the Chanel Mobile Art Pavilion; the MAXXI – National Museum of the 21st Century Arts in Rome, Italy; the Guangzhou Opera House in Guangzhou, China; and the London Aquatics Centre in London, UK. In 2004 she became the first female recipient of the renowned Pritzker Architecture Prize.

The exhibition Form in Motion at the Philadelphia Museum of Art is the first in the United States that features her product designs. On display are works such as her three-wheeled Z-car I, Swarovski crystal–encrusted necklaces and bracelets, and shoes made for Lacoste and Melissa. The Zephyr sofa and the Z-Chair make their US-debut in this show. Zaha Hadid presents the objects in an architectural design that she developed specifically for the exhibition space of the museum.
