Should organ donation be compulsory?

Discuss whether organ donation should be mandatory or optional. Debate your side of the argument about organ donation.
Natasha Koelmeyer's insight:

DEBATE: HEALTH AND MEDICAL ETHICS ROUND 3

This is a link to a debate; it lists  for and against points of views on organ donation. In addition to reading through the debate I've linked you to, this may prove to be useful

The Australian Organ Donor Register (the Donor Register) is managed by the Department of Human Services on behalf of the Australian Government. The Donor Register is the only national register for people to record their decision about becoming an organ and tissue donor for transplantation after death.

Registering is voluntary and people have complete choice over which organs and tissues they wish to donate. If a person does not want to become an organ and tissue donor, they can register their decision not to donate on the Donor Register.

The Donor Register makes sure a person’s donation decision can be accessed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by authorised personnel, anywhere in Australia. In the event of a person’s death, information about their donation decision may be accessed from the Donor Register by authorised personnel and provided to the family of the deceased.

HI girls,

This is an excellent summary article of euthanasia - I recommend reading this prior to your debate on Tuesday. If any of you would like to summarise this using the 'comment' function - or point out a segment from the article that you found interesting, that would be fantastic.
