Like their parents, they are most certainly sleep deprived as well.

farah jadhavji's curator insight, October 28, 2015 10:17 PM

Every time someone asked me how I felt after school in high school, I would always reply with tired, bored, or stressed. The way students are taught nowadays is so inactive that they start getting lazy in their own lives. Kids that are taught that school is everything are often unhappy in life. One solution would be to make schools more active and create more activities for kids to do rather than sit and listen to lecture 7 hours a day/5 times a week.

How do we learn best? This is a critical question for educators to understand and to keep up-to-date with research, and this post from the National Geographic looks at new research that shows that our auditory memory is not as robust as our visual and tactile memory.

Much more information is available in the post but the shorthand is that having students engage as many senses as possible is the best way for us to reach our learners!

David Baker's curator insight, March 13, 2014 4:33 PM

Important to remember that we structure classrooms to support learning.
