We certainly can grow crops with 90% less water, and sustainably, using just 10% of the space of conventional agriculture as well..... and with edible fish as a by-product!  What is not to like!

Elementary Aquaponics with Geothermal Cooling and Solar power

Get past the cheesy dance music at the beginning and this is an interesting video showing a decent-sized system that uses standard IBC totes.  They use geothermal to cool the greenhouse and 90% of the system runs off solar power.  We really liked this and hope to hear more about the system as it develops.

I recently discovered an amazing therapeutic community for addicts, the chronically homeless, and parolees in downtown Los Angeles that helps them build their own farm to grow food.
