Super-additive leading the way to more sustainable aquaculture feed

Super-additive leading the way to more sustainable aquaculture feed | Aquaponics~Aquaculture~Fish~Food | Scoop.it
Fish farmers are always looking for sustainable feed that can make fish strong and healthy. A new study led by the CSIC in Spain concludes that marine feed ingredients in aquaculture can potentially be replaced by plant ingredient
Charlie Dare's insight:
The team's next steps will be to investigate if the benefits of the butyrate supplement can also be found in the protein and bacteria composition found in the digestive system: "It is a big challenge to understand how these functional features are modified by genetic and epigenetic factors and an important step towards establishing gilthead sea bream as a powerful model for the development of sustainable and heathy fish feeds," says Dr Pérez-Sanchez. Keeping water cool for trout through summer a jute bag/ cloth on top, evaporative cooler, a fan helps and other ideas not so bright adds ice and likes a small volume of water for number of fish.An earlier idea posted had tanks dug into ground a good idea to keep even temps and fish covered in low light so they are relatively never stressed, fed at dawn and sundown ~

Charlie Dare's insight:
Adding words to flood and drain grow beds is not new but this guy adds his worms to another guppie water tank.Like comments suggest "Earthworms aren't aquatic creatures, they will prob drown and rot down there.""Earthworms r not aquatic creatures. There is no reason by natural behavior for them to live in an aquatic environment. I believe worms will eventually drown. That's why earthworms live in the soil. Anytime u go against nature's intended design, there is always a negative consequence."Waffling on the guy seems to be saying they live with the guppies and get oxygen from his airstone ??

Scientists discover key to easing aquaculture's reliance on wild-caught fish | Aquaponics~Aquaculture~Fish~Food | Scoop.it
