Workshop: Innovative Use of Video in Higher Education

Workshop: Innovative Use of Video in Higher Education | Aqua-tnet | Scoop.it

Video is everywhere today: it has entered our lives, transforming the way we live, work, learn, communicate and play. In education, video can be found at the heart and the helm of some of the most innovative trends in higher education: to achieve deeper learning during face-to-face time, as primary part of content in distance and blended learning situations, especially in MOOCs. This one day workshop aims to bring together some of the most innovative practitioners involved in providing video services in European Higher Education Institutions to discuss and exchange experiences, to highlight collective challenges and to explore opportunities for collaboration. It builds on the successful workshops held on lecture capture in Leuven in 2012 and 2013 prior to the Media & Learning Conference.

This full day pre-conference event is organised by the Media & Learning Association SIG on Video in Higher Education in association with the new SIG Media & Education from SURFnet in the Netherlands which brings together the previous work of the WEBstroom and Weblectures SIGs.

Location: Ministry of Education and Training, Brussels
19 November 2014, 10:00 - 17:15

Cost: €75 + VAT

John Bostock's insight:

A few places left at this workshop for anyone able to attend next week.

Aquaculture Sales Workshop | Aquaculture Directory | Aqua-tnet | Scoop.it
The Internet is becoming increasingly important as an inexpensive marketing tool, but many US fish farmers are hesitant to use electronic media. The National Aquaculture Association (NAA) and Connecticut Sea Grant are offering an intensive four-hour workshop, “Using the Internet to Grow Aquaculture Sales”.

John Bostock's insight:

Is there any interest in this kind of workshop from producers elsewhere in the world?

15th Fish Immunology/Vaccination Workshop, 21-25 April 2014

15th Fish Immunology/Vaccination Workshop, 21-25 April 2014 | Aqua-tnet | Scoop.it

The Wageningen fish immunology / vaccination workshops have been organised annually since 1998. Typically, the workshops are characterised by one-hour presentations given by experienced lecturers, taking time to thoroughly introduce each subject. This year’s (2014) subject is FISH IMMUNOLOGY/VACCINATION with extra attention being paid to the latest advances in fish immunology with emphasis on vaccination. The 2014 workshop includes two afternoons with a choice between hands-on practicals or updates on recent molecular advances in microarray analysis and gene synteny. Further, participants will be asked to send an abstract of their research and present a poster with the best one awarded the poster prize (further information will be provided upon registration). The official workshop language is English.

The objective of the present workshop is to provide participants with advanced knowledge, both theoretical and practical, on the immune system of fish. During the workshop we will discuss the latest insights in the evolution of the immune system but also related issues such as (experimental) animal welfare. The level of the workshop is targeting academic and company researchers as well as management staff in the aquaculture industry. In particular, we more than welcome PhD students, who have a reduced registration fee.

John Bostock's insight:

This looks a very useful short course - especially for PhD students involved in fish immunology
