"The course revolves around diagnostic pathology of fish diseases including those found in farmed, wild and aquarium species in both freshwater and the marine environment. It will approach interpretation of histopathological lesions from a systemic perspective, and will assume a good working knowledge of pathological processes and appropriate terminology in vertebrates in general. Typical and common diseases will be shown as well as emerging ones in a wide variety of environments. The course will comprise a series of lectures with an afternoon of slide interpretation. Participants are encouraged to bring with them interesting case material (H&E slides only please) for group review and discussions. The course instructor will be Professor Hugh W. Ferguson, currently professor of Pathology, School of Veterinary Medicine, St George's University, Grenada, W. Indies, and Professor Emeritus, University of Stirling, Scotland. Professor Ferguson is an American Board Certified veterinary pathologist, and he brings 40 years of experience as a diagnostic pathologist to his subject. He is author and editor of the standard book "Systemic Pathologist of Fish: a Text and Atlas of Normal Tissues in Teleosts and their Responses in Disease." This text will be made available to course participants at a discount over the normal price (not included in the registration price)"
