The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans began its study on aquaculture in January 2014 with the purpose of examining and reporting on the regulation of aquaculture, current challenges and future prospects for the industry in Canada. Its findings have now been published in a 3-volume report.

Grieg Seafood Hjaltland UK Limited has donated UK£25,000 (US$42,441.003) to the NAFC Marine Centre. This money will be used to purchase an ultraviolet (UV) disinfection system that will treat the seawater supply at the Marine Hatchery.

This new website has been developed in partnership by Marine Scotland, SEPA, The Crown Estate and the Food Standards Agency, to provide access to a range of information about aquaculture in Scotland.

The Aquaculture Communications Group (ACG) has launched a project to capture the experience of veteran industry members in their own words and use high definition video and the Internet to carry their messages to the global community.

ACG funded the first round of interviews. A total of nineteen industry veterans with a wide range of personal experiences in different parts of the world were interviewed during Aquaculture America 2013 in Nashville, Tennessee. Each was asked four questions: 1) what attracted you to aquaculture, 2) what kept you interested (some would say addicted), 3) what significant developments have you participated in or observed, and 4) what do you think about the future of aquaculture as we move into the 21st century.
