Here you will find some help and guidance to assist you when answering question 4 in the Britain homework book.
Pendleton Modern History's insight:
How far were changes to the role of women in British society in the years 1914 to 1929 due to the impact of the First World War? (24 marks)
You have an A3 sheet that will help you answer this question.
Introduction- In your introdution you need a clear judgement- so say if you think changes was down to WWI or not, you can also say what other factors changed women's role.
Paragraph 1- WWI and how it changed the role of women- even if you sont think this was the most convincing factor, you need to write about it first as it was the factor that was mentioned in the question.
Paragraph 2- You need to compare the information in this paragraph to the factor in the question- this paragraph could be on the role of the suffragettes/ or the Liberal Party, depending on how significant you think each of them were.
Paragraph 3- Once again compare the factor in this question to the factor in this paragraph, this paragraph could be on either the Liberal Party or the suffragettes.
Conclusion- A conclusion gives an overall assessment and you could try and make links between the factors (level 4), you also need a clear judgement here (this should be the same as the judgement you gave in the introduction.
Hint! Remember this question is asking you to write about the role of women up to 1929 so you sould include the role of women up until this point- so make sure and include the Parliamentary Reform Act 1928
Good Luck- If you need any further guidance please email your teacher.
